Position Summary for Director of National Accounts

Responsible for achieving assigned product sales volume and profit objectives. Manage pricing, sales programs, promotions, and marketing events.


Education & Experience

BS/BA degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 10 years of National and Regional Chain Account sales experience preferred. Understanding of Foodservice and National Account management, supply chain and distribution channels. Proven ability to monitor and maintain price, margin, volume, distribution, assortment, brokers, promotions, and category reviews. Experience translating data and market trends to support customer presentations. Ability to prepare and present product, category and trend data as well as pricing to distributor and customer culinary, sourcing and category management teams. Proven success working with customers and coordinating cross-functional internal teams through new product development projects. Must be a self-starter with a strong entrepreneurial perspective and the ability to work independently as well as with a Team. Understanding of forecasting and ability to work with category teams and brokers to provide accurate and timely demand planning documents to Furmano’s internal teams. Must have financial acumen and very strong, working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.


Skills & Abilities

Must be relationship-driven with strong interpersonal, analytical and presentation skills. Must be willing to travel approximately 50% of time. Must have a very strong, working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Outlook. Must be a self-starter with strong entrepreneurial perspective.


Physical Demands

Significant travel is required, approximately (50%). Good physical and mental health, sound judgment, high moral standards, and a sincere desire to work with individuals from varied backgrounds.


Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Represent the company and its plans, policies, and ethics while

maximizing sales and profits.

2.Build a sales strategy and develop tactical plans to execute and achieve

budgeted sales goals.

3.Develop and manage sales budgets.

4.Assist Marketing in planning and execution of company goals.

5.Establish and nurture relationships, which motivate brokers and direct

customers to strengthen our brand and private label business.

6.Educate and train brokers.

7.Manage account-specific forecasts, and product mix to maximize customer

profitability.

8.Conduct periodic broker and customer business reviews to maximize

volume and profits while staying within budgets.

9.Analyze, monitor, and report changes in the marketplace (customer,

broker, products, and competition).

10.Manage customer trade spend activity, marketing monies, input or approve

trade deals in contract system and help resolve any deduction and price

issues, etc.

11.Food Safety is the responsibility of every employee. Any issues should be

brought to the immediate attention of area supervisor or manager.


Working Conditions

Physical Environment: Varies per location.

Manual Dexterity: Walks, sits, and stands intermittently during the workday.

Audible / Visual Demands: Good auditory and visual abilities as oversight of the

program and maintenance of a safe environment are critical. Must be able to tolerate frequent interruptions.
