Divisional Controller (Manufacturing / Multi-Site): Greater Grand Rapids or Shelby Township, Michigan
Our client (global manufacturing business, ~ $350-$700M Division) is seeking an experienced Divisional Controller to serve as the senior financial steward for all U.S. operating sites.
Seeking qualified candidates with previous Plant Controller experience (+ additional qualifications), seeking next step into multi-site role.
This role owns the integrity of the financial close across all sites, leads forecasting and cash management activities, and delivers management reporting that enables data-driven decision-making across the Americas business.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Close & Site Oversight
Own the month-end and year-end close process across all U.S. sites, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to close calendars
Own the accuracy and reliability of site gross margin results, including bridging project-level cost and revenue performance to actual financial reporting during the close process
Manage balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and intercompany eliminations across all sites
Supervise complete accounting ledgers across all sites, including receivables, payables, fixed assets, and general ledger
Oversee payroll accounting entries, accruals, and ERP payroll interface; ensure accurate documentation of provisions and employee benefits including 401(k)
Cost Management & Profitability Analysis
Ensure accuracy of management control and costing information in the ERP system across all sites
Manage and monitor site productivity plans covering labor, overheads, and materials
Elaborate and report all information related to profitability analysis by product line, providing visibility into site-level margins
Forecasting & Financial Planning
Lead the Americas forecasting process, partnering with operations and commercial leadership to develop accurate and timely financial projections
Manage the annual budgeting cycle for the Americas region, coordinating inputs across all U.S. sites
Cash & Working Capital Management
Own working capital analysis for the Americas, identifying risks and opportunities in receivables, payables, and inventory
Partner with Treasury on cash positioning, forecasting, and liquidity management
Drive initiatives to improve cash conversion and reduce working capital inefficiencies across sites
Monitor and report on key working capital metrics, escalating material risks
Management Reporting
Deliver accurate, timely, and insightful management reporting packages for the Americas region to senior leadership
Develop and maintain reporting frameworks that provide visibility into site-level and regional financial performance, including daily, weekly, monthly, and annual indicators
Support board-level and executive reporting with Americas financial data and analysis
Partner with FP&A and operations to continuously improve the quality and relevance of management information
Team Leadership & Development
Manage and develop the site accounting teams across the Americas, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and ownership
Support the training and career development of finance staff; proactively identify and develop high-potential team members
Drive a no-surprise culture across the finance organization through disciplined forecasting, escalation, and communication practices
Encourage a team spirit of continuous development, learning from mistakes, and proactive feedback
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred
7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 3 years in a controller or senior accounting leadership role
Demonstrated experience managing large single-site or multi-site or multi-entity close processes, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Strong technical accounting skills including U.S. GAAP, consolidations, intercompany accounting, and cost/product accounting
Experience with U.S. tax compliance including sales and use taxes; ability to partner effectively with external tax advisors
Experience with forecasting, budgeting, and management reporting in an operational business environment
Working capital and cash flow management experience required
