The EA to the Acting Publisher & CEO serves as a trusted partner and extension of the Office of the CEO, enabling executive leadership to focus on the organization's highest strategic priorities. This role drives the efficient operation of the Executive Office by coordinating executive priorities, anticipating needs, and ensuring exceptional execution across meetings, communications, travel, events, and daily operations. The EA protects the CEO's time, attention, and decision-making capacity through thoughtful prioritization, sound judgment, and proactive planning. They build productive relationships across the organization and with external stakeholders while representing the Executive Office with professionalism, discretion, and exceptional service. The EA continuously improves operations, processes, and experiences that elevate organizational effectiveness and executive leadership.

How You'll Support The Mission

  • Serve as a trusted extension of the Acting Publisher & CEO by anticipating needs, exercising independent judgment, and ensuring executive priorities are executed with excellence.
  • Own the CEO's complex calendar, meeting cadence, and scheduling priorities to maximize executive effectiveness while balancing competing organizational demands.
  • Manage executive communications, correspondence, and email with professionalism and discretion, ensuring timely responses and consistent executive voice.
  • Coordinate domestic and international travel, executive security, logistics, accommodations, and detailed itineraries that enable productive and seamless business travel.
  • Prepare executive briefing materials, meeting agendas, research, presentations, and background information that allow informed, well-prepared decision making.
  • Partner with Executive Leadership Team members, Executive Assistants, Communications, Security, Facilities, Finance, Human Resources, and other stakeholders to coordinate enterprise initiatives and executive activities.
  • Lead the operational execution of executive meetings, Board interactions, VIP visits, publisher events, speaking engagements, and strategic company functions that reflect the professionalism of The Washington Post.
  • Administer executive expense management, awards programs, documentation, records, and office operations while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Protect executive priorities by serving as a thoughtful gatekeeper who appropriately filters requests, manages competing demands, and ensures the CEO's time is invested where it delivers the greatest organizational value.
  • Strengthen Executive Office operations by identifying opportunities to improve processes, enhance organizational effectiveness, and continually elevate the experience of those who interact with the Office of the CEO.

The Skills And Experience You Bring

  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience supporting C-suite executives, corporate officers, or senior executive leadership in a complex organization.
  • Demonstrated experience independently managing executive calendars, travel, communications, and high-profile meetings involving internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, prioritize competing demands, and make informed decisions with limited direction.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with experience drafting executive correspondence, presentations, and briefing materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage highly confidential information with discretion, professionalism, and integrity.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Experience coordinating executive events, travel logistics, hospitality, VIP engagements, and complex meeting planning.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, calendar management systems, collaboration platforms, and expense management tools.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment where priorities shift quickly and responsiveness is essential.
  • Experience supporting executives within media, technology, government, nonprofit, or similarly dynamic organizations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Washington, D.C. business, government, and civic community, including local venues, vendors, and hospitality resources, is preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and creating exceptional executive and stakeholder experiences.

Benefits may vary based on the job, full-time or part-time schedule, location, and collectively bargained status.

The salary range for this position is:

$105,600 - $176,000 Annual

The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
