Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CPA Consultant to conduct a comprehensive review of financial statements across multiple legal entities. The consultant will evaluate the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting, ensure key balance sheet accounts are properly supported, and recommend corrective actions where necessary.

The primary objective of this engagement is to ensure all entities have accurate, up-to-date financial statements with fully supported balances, facilitating a more efficient and reliable consolidation process. This is a 3- to 4-month contract assignment with the possibility of becoming permanent.

Key Responsibilities

• Review the latest available financial statements for all legal entities.
• Analyze assets, liabilities, equity, and other key accounts to ensure balances are accurately stated.
• Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations and supporting documentation.
• Identify discrepancies, unsupported balances, and accounting errors.
• Recommend and document adjusting journal entries and corrective actions.
• Work closely with Accounting Managers to implement accounting corrections at the legal entity level.
• Evaluate the timeliness of financial statement preparation and identify opportunities to improve month-end close and reporting processes.
• Assist in reducing reporting delays where financial statements are not prepared monthly or are produced with significant lag times.
• Review and analyze intercompany transactions and foreign currency accounting activity.
• Ensure financial information is supportable, verifiable, and prepared in accordance with GAAP.
• Provide recommendations to improve accuracy, consistency, and reporting efficiency across entities.

Qualifications

• CPA preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong background in financial statement review, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience identifying and resolving accounting discrepancies and recommending adjusting entries.
• Thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP.
• Experience with foreign currency accounting and intercompany transactions.
