Our client, a leading global institutional asset management firm, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive GL Accountant to join its collaborative finance team in San Francisco. This role offers the opportunity to support complex accounting operations, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives within a sophisticated investment environment. Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Financial Reporting
Prepare and post journal entries across general ledger accounts with accuracy and attention to detail.
Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to ensure timely resolution.
Maintain organized and accurate documentation supporting all accounting transactions.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement preparation.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies and controls.
Support audit activities by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
Accounting Operations & Process Improvement
Partner with the Accounting Manager to support budgeting, quarterly projections, and financial analysis.
Assist with firm-wide consolidation processes, FP&A activities, variance analysis, and expense reporting.
Utilize ERP systems, including NetSuite, to maintain accurate financial data and reporting.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows through automation and process enhancements.
Support accounting technology initiatives and system upgrades.
Conduct research, provide expense analysis, and assist with special projects and executive requests.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in general ledger or corporate accounting.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
Experience with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite.
Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, ownership-oriented mindset.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
