The City of Casper is seeking two Golf Shop Leads to help support daily operations at our golf facilities. This position plays an important role in creating a welcoming experience for golfers while assisting with golf shop operations, customer service, sales transactions, and the training and support of seasonal staff.

As a Golf Shop Lead, you will serve as a key resource for customers and team members by helping ensure smooth daily operations, maintaining high service standards, and supporting golf events, leagues, and tournaments.

Incumbents are responsible for providing courteous customer service associated with point-of-sale systems, reservations, memberships, passes, basic clerical duties, and related golf shop operations. Incumbent serves as a lead worker by assisting with daily operations and training seasonal staff to support consistent service and operational continuity.

Reporting Structure

Receives direction from the Head Golf Professional, Assistant Golf Professional, and higher-level Parks and Recreation supervisory and management staff.

Typical Class Essential Duties

  • Attends the golf shop front desk and provides general information in person, online, or by telephone regarding tee times, tournaments, merchandise, facility operations, memberships, passes, fees, and related golf services.
  • Processes point of sale transactions including greens fees, cart rentals, merchandise sales, memberships, and related customer transactions while maintaining accurate cash handling and recordkeeping practices.
  • Assists with day-to-day golf shop operations by helping coordinate front desk coverage, supporting opening and closing operations, and helping maintain continuity of service during times when professional staff may not be on property.
  • Assists with onboarding, training, mentoring, and providing day-to-day guidance to seasonal golf shop staff to ensure consistency in customer service, cashiering procedures, and operational practices.
  • Opens and closes assigned facilities, performs operational walkthroughs, secures facilities, and ensures work areas are organized, stocked, clean, and prepared for daily operations
  • Assists in monitoring inventory levels for merchandise, food, beverages, and operational supplies and communicates replenishment needs to appropriate staff.
  • Responds to customer questions, concerns, and service requests in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while helping resolve routine operational issues.
  • Maintains clean, organized, and professional golf shop workspaces, cashier stations, displays, and customer service areas.
  • Assists in supporting golf events, tournaments, leagues, and special programming by coordinating customer needs, registrations, check in activities, and operational logistics.
  • Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Training, Experience & Certifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of customer service, retail sales, recreation services, golf operations, or closely related experience preferred.

Driving records are required for all new employees regardless of the position's driving requirements. If the employee has not held a Wyoming driver's license for the last three years, the employee must provide at their own initiation and expense a driving record from their previous state(s) of residence.

Physical And Environmental Conditions

City of Casper employees in data creation and modification, security sensitive or safety and protective positions are subject to pre-employment drug testing. Some employees may be subject to random drug testing if their responsibilities include:

  • Emergency response/rescue
  • Handling or working with hazardous materials, including chemicals as well as solid and liquid waste
  • Operating or maintaining water and wastewater systems
  • Writing or modifying code, maintaining, or modifying City data systems including work on networks, servers, and communication systems
  • CDL operations and driving
  • Operating power-driven machinery or equipment
  • Creating or modifying health, financial, security and or risk documents or assessments
  • Working with or directing minors

Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

Incumbents in this position work indoors in a front desk/counter environment and are subject to the common noises associated with a front counter/customer service/office work including telephones, copiers, and printers. The position requires frequent sitting, typing, and customer contact, both by telephone and in person.
