Rohde & Schwarz is seeking a Government Affairs Manager to serve as the central coordinator for all U.S. government relations activities. This individual will be responsible for managing the company's engagement with federal agencies and Congress, tracking contract and capture opportunities across business lines, and ensuring alignment among internal stakeholders and external consultants. The role reports to the U.S. CEO and works closely with Vice Presidents across the Security, Defense, and Safety lines of business.
Your tasks
Serve as the primary point of contact and coordinator for all U.S. government affairs activities, ensuring consistent messaging and strategic alignment across business units
Manage relationships with external government relations consultants and lobbyists, ensuring all parties are working toward unified objectives
Develop and maintain the company's federal engagement strategy in coordination with business line leadership
Track all active federal contracts, pending procurements, and capture opportunities across TSA, FAA, DoD, and other relevant agencies
Maintain a comprehensive pipeline of government business development opportunities and provide regular status updates to business line VPs
Monitor federal budget cycles, appropriations, and policy developments that may impact company interests
Cultivate and maintain relationships with key decision-makers at federal agencies, on Capitol Hill, and within relevant industry associations
Build relationships with elected officials and stakeholders in states where the company has operations or a growing footprint
Coordinate and leverage industry association memberships to maximize company visibility and influence
Identify and secure speaking opportunities for company executives at conferences, industry forums, and policy events
Represent Rohde & Schwarz at industry events and agency meetings as appropriate
Provide coverage of relevant congressional hearings and mark-ups, summarizing key developments for leadership
Track regulatory and policy developments that may impact company interests across security, defense, and safety portfolios
Prepare regular briefings for the U.S. CEO on government affairs activities, legislative developments, and business development pipeline status
Develop quarterly reports for the CEO to share with the Board of Directors, summarizing U.S. government engagement, contract performance, and strategic opportunities
Create and maintain internal dashboards tracking key metrics, milestones, and deliverables
Your Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in public policy, law, business, or related field preferred
Minimum 7 years of experience in government affairs, federal contracting, or business development, preferably in the aviation safety, aerospace and defense, airport affairs, aviation and border security, or technology sectors
Demonstrated understanding of the legislative process, federal procurement processes, the federal register, and government sales cycles
Experience working with Capitol Hill, TSA, FAA, DoD, CBP and/or DHS strongly preferred
Strong project management skills with ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive-level briefings
Established network of relationships within the federal government, Capitol Hill, and relevant industry stakeholders
Ability to travel 30%, primarily domestic but occasional international as required

The total compensation for this position is $250K-$300K. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable) plus benefits. The range is determined by the position, geographic location and level. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure and job-related skills.
