Head of Capital Markets

Macdonald & Company has been exclusively retained to identify a senior capital markets professional for a highly successful private real estate investment platform headquartered in New York.

This is a rare opportunity to join an entrepreneurial, well-capitalized owner/operator with a long track record of acquiring, developing and managing institutional-quality real estate across the United States.

The successful candidate will take ownership of equity capital formation across the business, with a particular emphasis on sourcing and executing project-specific equity raises for acquisitions and development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead equity raising for individual acquisitions, developments and strategic real estate transactions.
• Originate, cultivate and manage relationships with institutional investors, family offices, private equity firms and other sophisticated capital sources.
• Structure and execute project-specific joint ventures and equity partnerships.
• Present investment opportunities to prospective investors and guide transactions through to close.
• Work closely with senior leadership on capital strategy, transaction execution and new investment opportunities.
• Maintain and expand long-term investor relationships while identifying new sources of capital.
• Provide market intelligence on capital flows, investor appetite and transaction structures.

We are interested in speaking with individuals who have a demonstrable track record of raising equity for individual real estate transactions, rather than solely pooled investment funds.

Successful candidates are likely to have experience within:

• Private real estate investment firms
• Real estate developers
• Opportunity funds
• Real estate private equity
• Institutional investment managers

You will bring:

• Significant experience raising project-level equity for acquisitions and developments.
• Established relationships with institutional investors, family offices, private equity firms and other sophisticated capital providers.
• Strong understanding of joint venture structures, capital stacks and equity negotiations.
• The commercial credibility to represent a sophisticated real estate investment platform directly with investors.
• Excellent communication and relationship management skills.

Experience raising discretionary funds is valuable; however, direct experience leading equity raises for individual real estate projects and transactions is considered essential.
