Duke's is now looking for a Human Resources & Payroll Generalist to join our team in Elgin, IL!


In this role, you will support the full employee lifecycle delivering hands-on HR support. Payroll processing from start to finish is a key function of this role and you will gain exposure to our weekly payroll process through structured training, shadowing, and progressive ownership of select tasks such as timecard reviews, audits, reporting, and issue resolution.

Reporting to the HR Manager, you will:

  • Process weekly payroll for 500 employees nationwide, including performing certified payroll reporting and audits
  • Process all employee offboarding and termination activities
  • Assist with benefits administration, including open enrollment and qualifying life events
  • Administer employee leaves, including FMLA, STD, LTD, and personal leaves of absence
  • Support new hire onboarding processes
  • Assist in scheduling and supporting employee drug testing
  • Respond to confidential employee inquiries related to benefits, payroll, and workplace issues
  • Assist with regulatory inquiries and documentation for DOL, EEOC, and OSHA matters
  • Support monthly HR initiatives to increase employee engagement
  • Help plan and facilitate annual employee events
  • Prepare reports for management, audits, financial review, and workforce planning
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Apply now if you:

  • Have at least five years of HR administrative experience
  • Have experience with full cycle payroll processing, preferred
  • Have an associate's or bachelor’s degree in related field, preferred
  • Hold HR and/or payroll certifications, preferred
  • Have excellent customer service experience for both internal and external customers
  • Have excellent attention to detail with strong follow-up skills
  • Have excellent knowledge of the HR core functions following the employee life cycle from start date up through termination date, required
  • Have excellent organization and time management skills
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills
  • Have strong ability to receive and process information in a professional, sensitive, confidential, and timely manner
  • Have strong computer skills including accurate data entry, MS Office (particularly Excel and spreadsheets), UKG Ready, ADP Workforce Now, and/or other HR, ATS, ERP systems
  • Are willing and able to work overtime or weekends as necessary
