A premier public-listed global investment bank is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and talented Vice President or Director for their growing middle market and small-cap investment banking and capital markets practice. The ideal candidate will bring a creative and entrepreneurial sales approach to this growing Capital Markets desk on distribution for equity and equity-linked products. The team delivers equity research and investment ideas, facilitates investor, corporate and analyst access, and markets equity issuance to its investor base. This unique role on the team involves covering a large volume of smaller institutional clients in the US on cash equity and related products, ideally covering the small cap and/or micro-cap space. The ideal candidate will have an established client coverage network and have the drive to explore new relationships within Canada and the U.S. He or She will be working in a dynamic team environment and working closely with the research and trading teams. The ideal candidate would be a proactive team member that creates focus, discipline and standardization across the sale of publicly traded capital markets product solutions across institutional channels. The successful candidate will help increase internal participation, increase client base and establish revenue expansion capabilities. You will be reporting to the CEO of US.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead business development efforts to acquire and grow institutional client relationships in the Mid, Small/Micro-Cap space, driving revenue growth through client acquisition
Advise clients on market conditions, execution strategies, and order types, leveraging deep market expertise to drive client satisfaction and trading volume
Direct trade operations, monitor open orders, and resolve discrepancies in coordination with middle office and clearing
Responsibility for a defined set of institutional accounts as their day-to-day point of contact
Keep clients informed about firm's research and access opportunities using firm platforms and clear processes
Partner closely with Research, Corporate Access, Equity Capital Markets, Trading and other Sales teams to cover effectively
Signals and Reporting Use internal dashboards to monitor client engagement and revenue trends; produce concise updates for desk leadership on what's working and where to adjust
Corporate Access and events Coordinate event marketing and attendance with the Corporate Access team
Manage client onboarding, trade reporting, and periodic business reviews to strengthen relationships
QUALIFICATIONS
Undergraduate Degree required, MBA or other Graduate Degree is a plus but not required; minimum 7 to 10 years of total experience ideally on Cash Equity sales desk with proven institutional client track record
Demonstrated success in business development and client acquisition within institutional options markets
Advanced proficiency with sales and trading platforms/OMS/EMS and deep understanding of market structure and execution protocols
Familiarity with AI tools and applications
Strong existing relationships within the institutional community
Strong critical thinking, risk management, client presence, and communication skills
Works well under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume agency environment
Ability to collaborate effectively across Syndicate, Trading, Risk, Compliance, and Operations
LICENSING & COMPLIANCE
Registration for FINRA Series 7, 63, 57 must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted. Subject to FINRA Background Screening Requirements.
