Manager, External Affairs

What You Get To Do

Reporting to the Director of External Affairs, the Manager of External Affairs is responsible for Florida state and local government relations, and the company’s engagement strategy with local and state business and industry groups. The Manager of External Affairs will:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key business and industry groups
  • Represent the company at external functions and ensure other SEA leaders are involved within the company’s strategic areas of giving and influence
  • Build and foster positive relationships with key civic and community leaders and influencers
  • Be knowledgeable on Florida legislative and regulatory environment and communicate threats and opportunities to VP and park presidents
  • Represent the company with elected officials and legislative and regulatory staff at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Primarily liaison with the company’s Florida state and local lobbyist
  • Engage in Florida lobbying activities at the local and state level as well as other states and federally as needed
  • Organize and escort tours for elected officials, legislative and regulatory staff
  • Working with Florida lobbyist, VPs, and General Counsel, develop and implement political giving strategy
  • Manage PAC administration (primary liaison with PASS)
  • Support Community Relations and serve on committees and boards as needed
  • Assist in submitting purchase orders, contracts, and check requests
  • Legislative Software Management
  • Knowledge of Orlando area’s local government
  • Travel as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Bachelors Degree in related field
  • 4+ years of Government Relations experience
  • Familiarity with legislative process
  • Focused self-starter with the ability to prioritize
  • Strong communication and negotiating skills
