This position is focused on the mechanical design, development, and manufacturing of stationary and mobile antenna systems and related equipment.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
Work as part of multiple integrated product teams. In some cases, will be lead mechanical engineer on a team, while in others, will be in a support and/or advisory role
Perform hands-on design and analysis, and mentor junior engineers
Prepare and present design and analysis material during internal and customer design reviews
Prepare detailed product manufacturing documentation such as test procedures and assembly instructions
Support component and antenna system level environmental testing
Interface with ThinKom production personnel and outside suppliers during manufacturing phase of programs
Support business development activities by providing input for proposals
Skills And/or Experience Needed
BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. MS preferred
10+ years of experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering and product design and development
Advanced capability in the design and analysis of positioner drive systems. Experience with precision positioners and the design or selection of bearings is preferred
Advanced capability in designing for producibility, reliability, and ease of assembly and maintenance
Knowledge in the areas of materials, structural and thermal analysis, dynamics, vibration and mechanical shock, heat transfer, finite element analysis, and composite structures
Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques such as machining, forming, casting, injection molding, and additive manufacturing
Strong knowledge of fasteners, adhesives, coatings, and related industry specifications
Solid modeling, engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Experience with Creo is preferred
Well versed in configuration management
Technically proficient in MS Office products

Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in written form
Interpersonal skills to effectively work with ThinKom personnel as well as suppliers and customers
Ability to effectively present information in team meetings and design reviews
Additional Requirements
Must be eligible to obtain and hold a US DoD Security Clearance in Support of US Government contracts/subcontracts
Follow ThinKom corporate policies and design procedures

Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
This position uses a computer terminal to access, input, and retrieve data
This position may be subject to interruptions that may cause a change in immediate priorities and/or work focus
