About the Company

Our client is developing a next-generation Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite network that is transforming how connected systems are designed, manufactured, deployed, and operated. Their mission is to redefine space-based communications by enabling scalable Internet of Things (IoT) solutions that deliver actionable intelligence, expand global connectivity, and improve the way people and industries interact with the world. They are an engineering-driven organization focused on innovation, collaboration, and solving complex technical challenges at the intersection of space and advanced electronics.

About the Role

They are seeking an experienced PCB Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary hardware engineering team. This is a hands-on role focused on schematic capture, PCB layout, system integration and Design for Excellence (DFX) using Altium Designer. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys owning the complete PCB development process, from concept through manufacturing release and designing complex, production-ready digital and mixed-signal hardware. While familiarity with RF hardware is beneficial, this is primarily a PCB design and layout role rather than an RF or circuit design position.

Responsibilities

  • Own the complete PCB design lifecycle, including schematic capture, PCB layout, routing, design reviews, manufacturing release, and engineering change management.
  • Develop complex, high-layer-count digital and mixed-signal PCB designs using Altium Designer.
  • Design with a strong focus on signal integrity, power integrity, impedance control, grounding strategies, and robust power distribution networks.
  • Produce complete manufacturing documentation, including fabrication and assembly drawings, Gerber/ODB++ files, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and release packages.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, FPGA, firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure successful system integration.
  • Work directly with PCB fabrication and assembly partners to resolve Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Test (DFT), and production-related challenges.
  • Maintain ECAD libraries, support component selection, and assist with board bring-up, debugging, and iterative design improvements.
  • Promote Design for Excellence (DFX) principles throughout the hardware development lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Extensive hands-on experience with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Proven experience designing complex, high-density, multi-layer PCBs (typically six or more layers).
  • Strong understanding of: High-speed PCB layout, differential pair routing, controlled impedance, PCB stack-up design and signal integrity and power integrity.
  • Experience implementing EMI/EMC-conscious layout techniques, decoupling strategies, and power distribution best practices.
  • Solid understanding of PCB fabrication processes, assembly constraints, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deliver high-quality designs within demanding development schedules.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:
  • High-speed interfaces such as DDR4/DDR5, PCIe, JESD204, Ethernet, or multi-gigabit serial links
  • FPGA-based systems, including pin planning and constraint management
  • Embedded systems architecture
  • Localized DC-DC converter layout and power supply design
  • Thermal management and mechanically constrained designs
  • RF hardware or satellite electronics
  • Experience designing hardware for aerospace, space, or other high-reliability applications

Pay range and compensation package

This is a full-time, exempt position based in Saratoga, California. The anticipated base salary range is $130,000 to $200,000 USD, with total compensation determined by relevant experience, technical expertise, and overall qualifications.
