Senior Property Accountant

Full-Time | Onsite | Location Hackensack, NJ Salary: $70,000 – $85,000

Overview "Client" is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join our Accounting Department. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, highly organized, and experienced in accounting procedures, financial reporting, and property management operations. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in Excel, and familiarity with financial software and database systems.

The Senior Property Accountant will work closely with both the construction and finance teams on project budgets, approvals, timelines, and ongoing tracking. This is a fully onsite position, Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and audit monthly income and expense activity for a portfolio of properties.
• Perform bank and security deposit reconciliations.
• Prepare annual income and expense statements and rent rolls for municipal and lender reporting.
• Reconcile mortgage loan principal, interest, and escrow accounts.
• Coordinate and manage contract execution and compliance for CapEx and recurring operational vendors.
• Manage vendor relationships throughout the bid, onboarding, project, payment, and closeout processes.
• Participate in permitting, inspections, punch‑list walkthroughs, and warranty follow‑up.
• Oversee accounts payable, including invoice coding, vendor statement review, negotiations, and workflow management.
• Lead the month‑end close process for assigned properties.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Experience in property management, real estate, or construction accounting strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, including lookup, logical, and data manipulation functions.
• Experience with accounting software systems.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
