The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of ovarian cancer biology, biomarker development, animal studies, and genetic screens. A strong background in molecular biology, drug development, mouse models, and cancer genomics is required. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree. Specifically, a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology and 5 years of relevant postdoctoral training are required. Must have demonstrated prior certification for: human subjects research, institutional animal care and use committee (IACUC) approval to work with animals, viral vector use, and recombinant DNA technology.
Responsibilities may include planning, organizing, and executing in vivo and in vitro experiments; data analysis; securing approval from regulatory authorities; writing grants, progress reports, and manuscripts for publication and presentation; and participating in Center activities.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to conduct research while working directly with investigators in the Penn Ovarian Cancer Research Center, presenting research findings at national meetings, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and having input on the direction of the science.
