Senior Property Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Accountant to join a growing, Charlotte-based real estate organization. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of the accounting and reporting for a portfolio of commercial properties while working alongside an experienced and collaborative accounting team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience, a strong understanding of property management accounting, and a passion for delivering accurate financial reporting in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
• Record and reconcile all property-related transactions in Yardi, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
• Review tenant leases and ensure accurate billing of rent, CAM, and other charges.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and reconciliations.
• Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Partner with property managers, asset managers, and external auditors as needed.
• Maintain compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 3+ years of property accounting experience required.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and property-level financial reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with multi-entity accounting and consolidations.
• Exposure to commercial property types.
• Yardi software experience
