Site Supervisor – Solar (O&M)
Leap29 are working closely with a highly regarded Renewables IPP business who have a strong pipeline of Solar, Wind and BESS across North America.
The Site Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of a solar farm. This role oversees daily site activities, maintenance planning and execution, workforce management, and overall plant performance. The Site Supervisor ensures that all work is carried out in accordance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures while maintaining high levels of plant availability and reliability.
In addition, the Site Supervisor is accountable for setting site and individual performance goals, managing site budgets, conducting performance evaluations and disciplinary actions, and providing leadership by example to foster a strong safety and performance culture.
Working Conditions
Approximately 70% of the role is field-based, with the remaining 30% dedicated to administrative duties, reporting, and record management.
Less than 10% travel is required.
Work may occasionally be performed in extreme weather conditions.
Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg) or more.
Frequent verbal and written communication is required.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays when necessary.
Participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation is required.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
Lead and promote all site safety initiatives and ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety requirements.
Conduct routine field safety inspections, audits, and observations.
Investigate incidents, accidents, and injuries, and prepare detailed reports outlining findings and corrective actions.
Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) standards and procedures.
Operations & Maintenance
Oversee all site quality control activities, including inspections and assessments of work performed by Operations & Maintenance (O&M) contractors.
Monitor contractor performance and ensure work is completed to established standards.
Develop, implement, and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
Coordinate and expedite repairs for PV solar systems, substations, and associated equipment.
Apply technical expertise to maximize plant performance, reliability, and availability.
Participate in the development, review, and implementation of operational procedures and best practices.
Leadership & Workforce Management
Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring, and professional development for site personnel.
Manage site technicians, contractors, and service providers to ensure safe and efficient execution of work.
Establish daily work priorities, schedules, and assignments, including hands-on support when required.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Planning, Reporting & Administration
Create and manage work orders, service requests, purchase requisitions, and maintenance records.
Monitor inventory levels of tools, materials, and spare parts to ensure operational readiness.
Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports as required.
Ensure the accuracy and completion of contractor documentation, including outage reports, equipment issue logs, site visit records, and safety and environmental inspection reports.
Perform all duties professionally and in accordance with company policies.
Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by Operations Management.
Support and uphold the Client’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments and objectives.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Required
Technical qualification, certification, or relevant experience in electrical systems, renewable energy, or solar O&M operations.
Strong understanding of solar plant operations and maintenance practices.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with utilities, contractors, vendors, customers, and local authorities.
Proven ability to coordinate multiple teams, contractors, and workstreams simultaneously.
Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Knowledge of EH&S compliance requirements and contractor management processes.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and racking plans.
Strong understanding of electrical installation standards and quality workmanship practices.
Experience with high-voltage systems, maintenance activities, and switching operations.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and stakeholder groups.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
Preferred
Familiarity with NERC Generator Operator (GOP) responsibilities.
Additional certifications or training relevant to renewable energy operations and maintenance.

The successful candidate will possess:
3–5 years of experience within the renewable energy sector, preferably in utility-scale solar operations.
Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
A proactive approach with a proven track record of delivering results on schedule.
Experience working across multiple organizations and functional teams.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
