VP, Corporate Controller | Leading Florida-Based Bank | Miami, FL (Relocation Assistance Available)
StevenDouglas is actively working on a VP, Corporate Controller with one of Florida's largest and most respected banks — a multi-billion-dollar institution with a decades-long track record of strength, stability, and top-tier industry ratings for safety and soundness. Despite its scale, this bank has kept the entrepreneurial, relationship-driven culture of a community bank, and it has been repeatedly recognized as one of the best banks to work for in the country.
This is a high-visibility executive seat reporting directly into the CFO, owning the full accounting and financial reporting function for the organization.
💼 Why This Opportunity Stands Out
- True executive-level scope — own accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, tax, and investment operations for a major financial institution
- Direct partnership with the CFO and executive leadership, with real influence on strategic decisions
- A profitable, well-capitalized, growing organization — this is a build-and-improve seat, not a turnaround
- Award-winning, people-first culture with strong internal mobility and long employee tenure
- Relocation assistance available for out-of-area candidates
- We have a longstanding relationship with this client and a proven track record of successfully placing candidates here — we know the leadership team, the culture, and exactly what it takes to win this role
📋 What You'll Own
- Lead the bank's accounting function end to end: monthly/quarterly/annual close, financial statement preparation, reconciliations, and board, regulatory, and governmental reporting
- Establish and maintain a strong internal control environment over financial reporting, aligned with GAAP, regulatory expectations, and audit standards
- Direct the tax accounting function and oversee investment accounting, AP, and related operational areas
- Serve as a key liaison to auditors and regulators while coaching and developing a high-performing accounting team
✅ What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of progressive accounting/financial reporting leadership, with meaningful experience in banking or financial services
- CPA (or comparable accounting/audit/regulatory credential) required
- Deep command of GAAP, financial close, internal controls, and regulatory reporting in a regulated environment
- A confident communicator who can distill complex financials for executives, boards, auditors, and regulators
