Without effective reporting, even the most thorough audit fails to create meaningful change or demonstrate value to stakeholders. Executive summary set the tone for the entire report. They should answer three critical questions: What's our overall security posture? What are the most significant risk? What actions need immediate attention? Keep this section to one page and write it for business leaders who may not read the technical details. Make sure your findings follow a structured format. What's the condition? What did you find during the audit with specific evidence and examples? What's the criteria? What should have been in place based on our policies, best practices or standards? And what was the cause?
