A major milestone today! 🎓 It's been 25 years since I began my journey as a Computer Science student at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor! I am forever grateful to my advisor, Professor Todd Austin for giving me that incredible opportunity! I have fond memories of "Introduction to AI" course by Professor Michael Wellman where, alongside my fellow students (Alok M. and Sharad Mittal) , we built bidding/selling agents in C++ for competing in an eBay-style auction. Our goal was to optimize the agent for bidding strategy and market efficiency. It was a project that took us lots of fun iterations and debugging. We spent weeks writing code to optimize bidding in a simulated market. Late nights, lots of mountain dews, trial and error, and a ton of learning! It’s mind-boggling to contrast that with today's landscape. 💡You could probably "vibe code" the project's core in Google AI Studio with a few prompts to the Google Gemini 2.5 pro model from Google DeepMind. Or use the Gemini API for programmatic integration. Gemini CLI on github would be perfect for rapid, iterative testing right within command line (the linux-like, emacs-like, vi-like vibe!) . The entire agent could then be built with the ADK (Agent Development Kit) and orchestrated on a platform like AgentSpace! The dev cycle has been compressed—what took weeks of manual C++ coding then can now be prototyped in an afternoon (or less!)
