ASCTE recently hosted a TEAMS AI Immersion Workshop for 18 middle and high school educators representing 12 Alabama counties. Over two days, teachers from mathematics, science, computer science, and engineering programs participated in hands-on activities focused on the concepts behind modern artificial intelligence. Topics included evolutionary algorithms, K-nearest neighbors, decision trees, large language models, and iterative prompting. The workshop emphasized practical application. On the second day, each participant developed an AI-focused classroom activity tailored to their own students, leaving with a lesson they could immediately take back to their school. Led by ASCTE instructors, the workshop supports efforts to expand computer science and AI learning opportunities for students across Alabama through educator professional development. We're grateful to everyone who joined us and look forward to sharing future workshop opportunities soon. Stay tuned.
