I have been posting a few things about RFID lately and I think it is important to highlight the difference between mobile RFID and Fixed RFID. Something I have been hearing from a few customers lately is how they want to automate some processes for tracking products or assets.
Typically, any automation requires less user interaction, which is where Fixed RFID comes in. Readers and antennas can be set up to track movement of items with RFID tags throughout a facility. With additional options for RTLS (Real Time Location System) so you know exactly where items are in real time can be crucial for many industries.
A good example would be in the Healthcare industry. Hospitals work very fast paced and many doctors and nurses are tending to multiple patients. Being able to find their devices as quickly as possible is important. Fixed RFID can be set up throughout a hospital to track movement of important devices so the employees know the last place a device was scanned and they can easily find it when needed.
