Wishing everyone a more secure, safer, resilient, and responsible 2026. With each changing year, cyberattacks continue to rise. Breaches get bigger. Impact gets wider. [We witnessed JLB attack in 2025]. If we’re being honest — cybersecurity hasn’t evolved at the pace it should, with every changing year. In 2025, we had good number of organizations relying on single-factor authentication — a risk we were already warning about 20–25 years ago. We still see shared admin accounts, open RDP ports, unpatched systems, and “security added later” approaches. Even though attackers have completely changed how they operate, we haven’t . This isn’t a technology problem alone. It’s a mindset problem. Cybersecurity can no longer be about ticking boxes, passing audits, or deploying tools that look good on dashboards. It must evolve into something deeper – such as security by design, Identity-first thinking, Governance for AI and data, Resilience and recovery and Culture/ accountability (not awareness slides) As we enter 2026, the hope is not just for fewer cyber-attacks — because attacks will continue. This expanding AI attack surface, combined with agentic AI and automated exploitation, is redefining both offense and defense at machine speed Geopolitics has also become a defining feature of cyber risk. In 2026, 64% of organizations factor geopolitically motivated cyberattacks—such as espionage and critical infrastructure disruption—into their risk strategies, and 91% of the largest enterprises have adjusted their cybersecurity posture due to geopolitical volatility. Confidence in national cyber preparedness is eroding, with 31% of leaders expressing low confidence in their country’s ability to respond to major cyber incidents. But breaches are no longer a question of “if”. Organisations will be judged on how quickly they respond, recover and communicate. Supply chain risk is no longer a side issue One weak supplier can expose an entire ecosystem. Visibility, minimum security standards and realistic assurance processes are now business-critical, not just procurement paperwork. 3. Regulation is tightening and accountability is personal Data protection and cyber regulation continues to evolve, with increasing scrutiny on senior leaders. CISOs and DPOs are being asked to translate cyber risk into business risk, clearly, confidently and defensibly. 4. Technology won’t save you if people are unprepared Attacks are more convincing than ever. AI-generated phishing, impersonation fraud and deepfake voice calls are blurring the lines.
