For EMT Katie Ohda, living in pain wasn't an option. The safety of those she served depended on it. After a torn shoulder labrum that a prior surgery couldn't fix, she connected with Dr. LeeAnne Torres at Beacon Bone & Joint Specialists in South Bend. When her hip gave out next, Dr. Torres was her first call. "It's kind of crazy to think back from like a year ago. I was laying in a bed unable to move without crutches and a lot of help," Katie said. "And now I'm again meeting my goals like serving my community and helping my community, and that is just everything to me." Today she's a year out from hip surgery and back doing the work she loves.
