Post de Catalina Tejero

It was a privilege to serve once again as a jury member for the Fundación Princesa de Girona Arts Award and to attend this year’s Awards Ceremony at the Fundació del Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, in the presence of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain, the Princess of Asturias and Girona, and Infanta Sofía. After a rigorous and genuinely engaging selection process, I was delighted to see filmmaker Gemma Blasco receive the 2026 Premio Princesa de Girona Arte. I would also like to acknowledge my fellow jury members, Jesus Cimarro, Ignacio Garcia-Belenguer, Ainhoa Grandes Massa, Soleá Morente, María Sánchez and Sergio Vila-Sanjuán. The different perspectives represented in our discussions made the deliberations particularly valuable. My congratulations also go to the other 2026 laureates: • Hatim Azahri Akhnous, Social Award • Patricia Aymà Maldonado, CreaEmpresa Award • Rafael Luque, Research Award • Mercedes Bidart, International CreaEmpresa Award • José Eduardo Méndez Delgado, International Research Award Their fields are very different, but all have chosen to direct their knowledge and talent towards questions that extend beyond individual achievement. Thank you to Francisco Belil, Salvador Tasqué Díez, Íngrid Aznar Juncà and the Fundación Princesa de Girona team for creating a platform that does more than recognise young talent. Its real value also lies in what follows: the visibility, relationships and responsibilities that such recognition can bring.
