After two years in London, I have returned home to Cork to begin studying for my Master of Architecture degree in Cork Centre for Architectural Education (CCAE), University College Cork, Munster Technological University. This was two years wherein I gained invaluable experience working as part of a welcoming, knowledgeable design team on a range of projects at F3 Architects LLP. While spending most of my time working on the landmark NDP Tower, a mixed-use high rise building in the heart of Tottenham, I was also given the opportunity to work on conservation projects within N17, as well as elite sport facilities for men’s and women’s teams across England and further afield. For this experience, the support from everyone at F3 and the friends I have made during my time there, I am truly thankful. The great thing about living in a city which has as vast an array of architecturally significant buildings as London, is the chance to experience in reality buildings I had only seen in magazines or through my phone. From visiting GROUPWORK's 15 Clerkenwell close and subsequently becoming a member of the Stone Federation Great Britain’s Architects’ club and attending The Stone Symposium, A Case for Stone, I have continued to progress my interest in stone as a structural material, which I will get to explore more deeply throughout the course of my upcoming studies.
