In 2021, I sold a legacy insurance agency. After the sale, I had a front-row seat to what happens when systems are changed without a stewardship lens When efficiency begins to outrun relationships When scale replaces care. That experience didn’t change what I believe. It reinforced it. Technology isn’t the risk. Losing stewardship is. That’s the lens I use today when I guide insurance agencies through modernization. If you’re an agency owner navigating AI, automation, or platform changes, this video explains why I approach it differently. 👇

Technology Has Advanced So Why Is Claims Service Getting Worse? Scroll through LinkedIn today and you’ll see a pattern that’s hard to ignore: growing frustration with insurance claims handling. Policyholders, brokers, and even industry professionals are openly questioning why people who pay faithfully for cover are made to feel like they are asking for a favour when they submit a claim. This isn’t just dissatisfaction it’s a warning sign. Insurance Is a Promise and Claims Are Where That Promise Is Tested Insurance is not a product you “use” every day. You buy peace of mind. You buy protection. You buy trust. So when a claim is delayed, rejected without clear explanation, or handled with indifference, it feels personal. It feels like the promise has been broken. Yet what’s most concerning is that this is happening at a time when technology has never been more advanced. Technology Has Improved Customer Service Has Not On paper, claims should be faster, clearer, and more customer-friendly than ever before. We now have: • Automated workflows • AI-driven assessments • Digital claims portals • Real-time data access And yet, customer experience is deteriorating. Why? Because technology has been used to replace judgment, empathy, and empowerment not enhance them. Customers are often trapped in rigid systems where: • Decisions are dictated by rules engines • Communication is templated and impersonal • Escalation paths are unclear or blocked Technology has created efficiency for insurers but distance for customers. As a seasoned claims professional I am disheartened by the lack of care and compassion for the paying customers. What’s your thoughts? Where does the issue lie? Technology or People? #InsuranceIndustry #InsuranceClaims #CustomerExperience #InsurTech #Leadership #EmployeeEmpowerment #TrustMatters #FutureOfInsurance

Allianz is raising the bar on what it means to be truly customer-first. CEO Oliver Bäte has set a clear ambition: make Allianz Germany’s favorite insurer by 2028 by putting customer effort at the center of how the business is run – not just as a metric, but as the strategy. This calls for a break with traditional insurance management logic, where success has often been defined by SLAs, front-office/back-office splits, specialist silos, and task-counting. If Allianz Germany is like many other insurers, it may need to rethink these legacy models and design around end-to-end customer journeys instead of internal structures. According to press reports - Over the next three years, Allianz plans to: - Simplify the customer journey so that buying and managing insurance feels effortless, from quote to claim. - Modernise digital infrastructure and use AI to remove friction, not just speed up old processes. - Shift from reactive service and SLA targets to more proactive support that prevents issues and keeps interactions “surprise-free.” The real change isn’t a new scorecard or a few process tweaks – it’s a mindset shift: customer effort is not something you say, it’s how you run the company. When you build around lower effort, satisfaction, loyalty, and sustainable growth follow. Stuart Corrigan is the most influential consultant in 2026 and an Amazon No. 1 best-selling author. PS new book coming that could help Oliver…just saying. 😬😬😬
