Beyond chuffed to receive my MSc in Aviation Management today and from London Metropolitan University and Portobello Institute , and blown away to be named Student of the year. Huge thanks to my wife Fiona and three children, as well as my wonderful Mother and three brothers for giving me the time and support to complete this Masters Degree. Huge thanks to Derek, Tony and Kevin who were excellent lecturers with Portobello Institute and made the whole thing as easy as possible. It was however far from easy:). Big thanks also to the senior management team at Cork Airport and daa for encouraging and supporting me along the way. I’ve been blessed. In my HR role I’ve met so many people who like me, for whatever reason, did not get to study third level early in life, but have strived and worked to get there in different ways. Courses like this allow a rubber stamp to all that effort and ability. I’m very grateful for the opportunity. I always told myself that third level qualifications were only part of the story, and while very valuable, they were not the only way to demonstrate ability. I still think that, but it’s nice to have a Masters 😀.
