🇮🇹 Italy’s leadership in the High Risk Criminal Networks EMPACT project is setting the standard for European law enforcement cooperation! At a press conference in Rome yesterday — under the guidance of Polizia di Stato and the participation of Arma dei Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza and partner agencies from Ireland, Austria, Spain and Belgium — Europol highlighted the outstanding results of the EMPACT operations in 2024 ad 2025: ✅ 977 international investigations launched ✅ 171 joint operational action days ✅ A united front against transnational organised crime 🔹 Organised crime is evolving, becoming more international, technology driven and interconnected. Criminal networks exploit AI, encrypted communications, cryptocurrencies, and global supply chains. 🔹 Europol’s latest report on the Most Threatening Criminal Networks reveals how some of these networks persist or quickly re-emerge despite arrests. To counter this, law enforcement must work hand in glove across borders. If organised crime is adapting, European law enforcement must adapt too. The outstanding EMPACT results demonstrates exactly how we do that. When European law enforcement joins forces, we do more than arrest criminals, we dismantle the criminal ecosystems that sustain them and make Europe a far more difficult place for organised crime to operate.
