Clear communication, timely feedback and a well-managed process don't just improve recruitment, they strengthen your employer brand. Employees don't stay at a company for 20 years anymore. Yet, that's how most energy companies try to hire. - long interview processes - multiple personality and capability tests - looking for signs of longevity and extreme loyalty I hear it from energy CEOs all the time. They want the person who will stay for decades. But, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median employee tenure in the US is 3.9 years. What does that mean for hiring high-impact energy leaders? - Shorten your recruitment process You can't take 8 months to hire for a role that will only be in place for 3-4 years. - Shorten the time to being billable You can't have a 12-month ramp-up until they are billable. That gives you 18-24 months of billable time from that hire. - Provide paths for growth Make the process for employees to advance within your company easy and clear. You'll keep them longer. Stop expecting hires to stay for decades. Realistically, they'll only stay for 3-4 years. Adjust your recruitment process and ramp-up to match. Or you'll lose the opportunity to hire high-impact, energy leaders for your business. #triplefit #highimpactenergyleaders

Stop Hiring for Experience. Start Hiring for Impact. For decades, recruitment has revolved around one question: "How many years of experience does the candidate have?" This is an easy metric to measure, but in today's rapidly changing business environment, it is becoming one of the least reliable indicators of future success. After interacting with thousands of professionals and partnering with organizations across EPC, infrastructure, manufacturing, consumer, D2C, renewable energy, logistics, and industrial sectors, one thing has become increasingly clear: Experience gets candidates shortlisted. Impact gets them hired. The Resume Doesn't Tell the Whole Story- Two candidates may have worked in the same company for ten years. One simply completed assigned responsibilities. The other transformed processes, built high-performing teams, reduced costs, developed future leaders, and consistently solved business problems. Both have identical years of experience. Their impact, however, is worlds apart. As recruiters and hiring managers, our responsibility is to identify that difference. The Hiring Mistake Many Organizations Continue to Make: Many organizations unintentionally prioritize comfort over capability. They look for: - The same industry - The same designation - The same educational background - The same competitors This creates a workforce that thinks alike. But businesses grow when they bring in leaders who challenge assumptions, introduce new ideas, and create measurable value. Recruitment is Business Consulting: A recruitment partner should never function as a resume forwarding agency. The real role of a recruiter is to understand business objectives, identify leadership capability, assess cultural alignment, and connect organizations with professionals who can create long-term value. Every hiring decision influences productivity, culture, innovation, customer satisfaction, and ultimately profitability. Hiring is one of the most strategic investments an organization makes. #LeadershipHiring #TalentAcquisition #ExecutiveSearch #Recruitment #Hiring #HR #BusinessLeadership #EPC #Infrastructure #Manufacturing #RenewableEnergy #HRgenix

Everyone talks about economic uncertainty. But the companies that stand out aren't the ones waiting for the market to improve, they're the ones continuing to invest. Across the utilities and water industry, we're seeing organizations: ✔️ Expanding sales teams ✔️ Hiring engineers and technical specialists ✔️ Investing in new technologies ✔️ Building for where the industry is headed, not where it is today The interesting part? Candidates notice. Top talent pays attention to the signals companies send. Organizations that continue investing during challenging times are often seen as more stable, more innovative, and more committed to long-term success. Hiring isn't just about filling positions—it's also a message to the market. So here's a question: Is your company signaling growth... or simply signaling that it's waiting? I'd love to hear what you're seeing in your industry.

The biggest hiring problem in engineering isn't a shortage of talent. It's hiring the right engineer for the reality of the job. Too often, recruitment focuses on qualifications and technical experience while overlooking everything that determines whether someone will actually succeed: leadership, team dynamics, client expectations, project pressures, and company culture. That's the thinking behind the recruitment practice I've built at Ume Talent Consulting. Before we search for candidates, we take the time to understand the environment they're stepping into. How does the team work? What does success really look like? What challenges will this person face six months from now? Those conversations lead to better hiring decisions because the goal isn't to fill a vacancy. It's to find someone who will strengthen the team for years to come. Engineering consultancies don't need more CVs. They need people who can deliver technically, communicate confidently, collaborate effectively, and thrive in complex environments. That's where we focus our work. Because the right hire doesn't just fill a position. They improve delivery, strengthen culture, and help a business grow. If you're looking to grow your engineering team and want a recruitment partner who takes the time to understand your business before searching for candidates, I'd love to connect. Feel free to reach out for a conversation about your hiring challenges and where you're looking to take your team next. #EngineeringRecruitment #EngineeringConsulting #TalentAcquisition #UmeTalentConsulting #EngineeringJobs

💰 The True Cost of a Bad Hire When organisations think about the cost of recruitment, they often focus on agency fees, advertising spend, or time-to-hire. But the real cost isn't recruiting the wrong person — it's keeping them. A bad hire can impact far more than a balance sheet: - Lost productivity - Delayed projects and missed deadlines - Increased pressure on existing teams - Reduced morale and engagement - Additional onboarding and training costs - Re-hiring and replacement expenses - Damage to client and stakeholder relationships In technical sectors such as Energy, Renewables, Grid & Infrastructure, the impact can be even greater. When key positions remain vacant or are filled by candidates lacking the right skills, experience, or leadership qualities, project delivery can quickly suffer. That's why successful hiring isn't just about finding someone who can do the job. It's about identifying professionals who have: ✅ The technical capability ✅ The right industry experience ✅ Alignment with your company culture ✅ The leadership and communication skills to succeed long-term At Green Scout, we combine consultant-led AI, deep sector expertise, and relationship-driven recruitment to ensure our clients aren't simply hiring quickly—they're hiring correctly. Because the right hire doesn't cost your business money. The wrong one does. 📩 Looking to reduce hiring risk and secure high-quality engineering and leadership talent? One thing I've noticed when speaking to hiring managers across the energy sector... Many businesses still rely heavily on job adverts to fill specialist roles. The problem? Job adverts only reach people who are actively looking. In my experience, many of the strongest candidates aren't scrolling job boards. They're busy delivering projects, leading teams and making an impact where they are. That means if you're only advertising, you're potentially missing a huge part of the market. This is where niche, specialist recruiters can make a real difference. We spend every day building relationships, understanding niche skill sets and speaking to people who aren't actively looking, but might be open to the right opportunity. Particularly in sectors like BESS, renewables, grid infrastructure and energy trading, finding the right person is rarely about who applied first. It's about knowing where to look. I'm interested to hear from hiring managers: Have your best hires come through job applications, or through direct approaches and specialist networks? #Recruitment #EnergyJobs #Renewables #BESS #Hiring #Specialist

Recruitment is evolving. The companies attracting the best talent aren't simply advertising vacancies. They're building hiring strategies that move faster, create better candidate experiences, and make decisions backed by market intelligence. In today's market, exceptional professionals often receive multiple opportunities before a position is even advertised. *Waiting too long can mean losing the right candidate to a competitor.* At Cletech Holdings, we partner with businesses across Mining, Engineering, Manufacturing, FMCG, Logistics, Industrial, IT, Finance and Technical sectors to identify, engage and secure high-performing professionals before they disappear from the market. Whether you're recruiting for a critical technical specialist, an experienced manager or building an entire project team, our focus remains the same: delivering the right people, at the right time, with a recruitment process designed around your business. The strongest organisations don't wait for talent to become available. They position themselves to secure it first. #CletechHoldings #Recruitment #TalentAcquisition #ExecutiveSearch #EngineeringJobs #MiningJobs #Manufacturing #FMCG #Logistics #IndustrialRecruitment #TechnicalRecruitment #HiringSolutions #SouthAfrica #BusinessGrowth

Most companies don’t need “more CVs”. They need more certainty. Certainty that the person can do the job. Certainty that they understand the environment. Certainty that they will represent the business properly. Certainty that they won’t create more problems than they solve. That applies whether you’re hiring: • Engineers • Supervisors • Contract Managers • Operations Managers In energy, housing and property services, hiring mistakes don’t just sit on a spreadsheet. They show up in missed appointments, poor customer experience, compliance issues and pressure on the rest of the team. That’s why recruitment in this space has to be delivery led. Not volume led. #Energy #SocialHousing #PropertyServices #Recruitment #WorkforceSolutions

The Best Conversations Aren't Always About Recruitment. Over the past few weeks, I've had dozens of conversations with professionals across the renewable energy sector. Interestingly, very few of them started with a job opportunity. They started with questions. "Where is the market heading?" "Are investors still backing BESS projects?" "Is Germany still the place to be for utility-scale solar?" ''What does the European Product landscape look like?'' The best recruiters don't just connect people with jobs, they connect people with information. When you understand the market, you can make better career decisions. When companies understand the talent landscape, they make better hiring decisions. Sometimes the most valuable conversation is the one that doesn't end with a placement. It ends with someone feeling more informed than when they picked up the phone. That's always a worthwhile outcome.

Here's the reality about hiring in renewable energy in 2026: The candidates you want aren't on job boards. They are already employed and they are being headhunted every week. What does this mean for your hiring strategy? 1. Job adverts alone won't find them If you post and wait, you get the people who are actively looking, which often means the people who are available because something isn't working in their current role. The top performers aren't scrolling LinkedIn jobs. 2. Speed matters more than ever Passive candidates don't wait. If you can't move from first conversation to offer in 3–4 weeks, you will lose them to a competitor who can. 3. The approach has to be right A generic InMail or a LinkedIn connection request without context doesn't work on senior passive talent. It has to be specific, relevant, and human. 4. Your employer brand has to do work upfront Before a passive candidate responds to an approach, they have looked you up. What does your company LinkedIn say? What have your engineers posted about working there? This is why we headhunt, not just advertise. And it's why the Growth Partner model is built for the way the market actually works. #Headhunting #PassiveTalent #GreenEnergy #Hiring #RenewableEnergy #TalentAcquisition #NetZeroPeople #Recruitment
