International Rescue Committee’s Post

In El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, the city’s population was trapped, civilian infrastructure was attacked, andthousands of people were killed.   Now, the same patterns are emerging in El Obeid.   Drone strikes are killing civilians, cutting off access to water, fuel and food, and paving the way for a ground offensive that would put hundreds of thousands of people at grave risk if escape routes are blocked.   Without sustained international action to halt the offensive, El Obeid could become another major humanitarian emergency.
