Bringing international elite level youth sports to our region, it was my honor to welcome the leadership inter Milan (FC Internazionale Milano) and a delegation from Italy to the United States for the official launch/gala of their newest youth soccer academy in America, which is located right here in Irvine. Backed by Inter Milan, the Inter Academy network reaches more than 20,000 boys and girls through elite level training camps and academies around the world. It was a privilege to meet Inter executives, coaches, and guests who traveled to Orange County for this special invite-only launch gala. I was also honored to meet Inter legend and soccer champion Beppe Baresi and hear firsthand about the club’s commitment to developing the next generation of athletes. Congratulations to Behdad Analui for his vision and leadership. What began as a local, homegrown club in Turtle Rock named FC Rockers has now evolved into an official partnership with Inter Milan and Inter Academy, an incredible achievement and a major win for youth soccer in Irvine, Orange County, and throughout Southern California. From Irvine to the international stage, this partnership further demonstrates why our city continues to attract world-class organizations, programs, and opportunities for young people.
