A little queer joy for your mid week slump. I Came in 2nd in my heat at the Bronx Burner's Bodega1600 last week. I hit a personal best for my mile time. Thing is, I don't think I would have if I came in first. Megan Takacs, who took first, made me push harder. Patryk Odedina yelling me across the finish line helped my kick too. From the outside, running looks like an individual sport. And 80% of the time it is. Only you can get you out of bed at 5am on a 17 degree January day. But that other 20%, it's friends, teammates, complete strangers, Asking us to be honest, asking if we have just a little more to give. A coach once said to me "If that's all you got, I'm gonna need you to give me more." And I did. And I carry that phrase with me to every race. How much deeper can we dig in the tough moments? Whatever it is, I always find I have a little more when we're out there together 💛
Such an important message! Also, I love the podium!
Fabulous message. We all need to be encouraged. Congratulations.
That summarizes running! Congratulations!
Way to go KM!
I'll get up at 5am to run with you my friend!!
