Last night Arup hosted a client event in #Madrid on the eve of the annual WindEurope conference, which is in the city this year. Titled “Accelerating Europe’s Energy Transition - How to balance growing demand with net zero targets”, I was pleased to chair a panel discussion on the beautiful rooftop terrace of ABC Serrano. We discussed demand growth, constrained renewables, grid buildout and what the rest of Europe can learn from Spain’s approach. Absolutely fantastic to hear from the panellists about the opportunity that AI offers as well as the challenge of funding the right secure, resilient and sustainable energy solutions. Data security and sovereignty is not a choice it is a necessity same can be said for the Energy and the development of AI is critical to this and a sustainable AI revolution cannot happen without a sustainable energy transition and a market that can deliver it.
