We need to talk about last night. The food was amazing, the views were incredible but the conversation was... outstanding. Last night we hosted a senior group of revenue and marketing leaders at Lucky Cat to discuss "Aligning Sales and Marketing Around Buying Groups". It was an amazingly candid and open conversation about the challenges and the opportunities we're all facing in the market. It's very easy to live in the fear mongering and isolating headlines of the news, but a very human evening made me feel incredibly optimistic about the future of our GTM teams. The 3 biggest things I took aware were; 1) Alignment between Sales and Marketing is always difficult but alignment with Product is even harder for sustainable targeting 2) Pre launch metrics help set expectations and stop business getting caught in an experimentation loops 3) Process & culture needs to be flexible enough to flow with the needs of the business but celebrate successful behaviours & results (which aren't always the same thing!) Thank you to everyone who attended, and for those that didn't - you missed out! - but we will be doing more in the future 👀 Follow me for more on the B2B trust gap 🚀 ♻️ Repost if you think it can help someone in your network.

Looks like a great evening and the comments speak for themselves. The idea that successful behaviours and results aren't always the same thing resonates with me. When working across functions to execute these programmes, there will be bumps in the road, and that's fine. It's how we manage that and bake it into the process. What are the remedial steps and how do teams work together to course correct.
The shift from experimentation loops to pre-launch metrics is a game-changer. It gives GTM teams clear guardrails before burning budget. Looking forward to the next session.
