First mentor session: done ✅ As part of the STEMAspire x Dell Technologies Mentorship Program, I had my first session with my mentor whose career journey gave me a whole new perspective on what's possible. A few things that stuck with me: → How you show up matters. The first 5 minutes of an interview sets everything. → Career paths are rarely linear, and that's okay. → Knowing where you want to go makes every conversation more intentional. As a final-year IT student majoring in Cyber Security, I want to work towards building a career at the intersection of cybersecurity and communication. Just attended a CyberTalk session on finding your “why” in cybersecurity — and one thing really stood out: There are multiple paths into this field, and not all of them are purely technical. Coming from a healthcare and compliance background, it reinforced that roles in risk, governance, and compliance are just as critical as technical ones. It also made me think more about how I’m positioning myself — not just learning frameworks, but understanding how risk and security impact real organizations. Definitely a valuable session. Looking forward to applying what I learned as I continue building in GRC.
