Today we’re expanding PayPal’s Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) offering into Austria as demand for flexible payment options continues to grow across Europe.  ✅ PayPal Pay in 30 allows customers to pay eligible purchases within 30 days with automatic repayment and reminders.  ✅ PayPal Ratenzahlung enables customers to pay with flexible installments spread across 3, 6, 12, or 24 fixed payments.  ✅ Merchants experience higher checkout conversion and increased basket sizes when consumers use BNPL at checkout. Proud to be part of team PayPal! 👏

BNPL penetration in Austria is genuinely strong — one of the highest in DACH. Interesting timing with the revised EU Consumer Credit Directive bringing tighter affordability checks and disclosure requirements for BNPL. How is PayPal approaching the credit risk assessment layer for this rollout — extending the existing EU framework or building a local compliance architecture?

BNPL continues to move from a checkout feature into a broader part of consumer finance infrastructure. PayPal’s expansion in Austria is another example of how flexible payment options are becoming more embedded in everyday commerce across Europe. For merchants, the appeal is clear: better conversion and larger basket sizes. For customers, the value is convenience and smoother cash flow. At the same time, BNPL only works well when the product remains transparent: clear repayment terms, proper reminders, fair eligibility checks, and responsible use. That balance between growth, user experience, and consumer protection is where the real challenge sits. 💳

Interesting expansion. As merchants scale internationally, payment flexibility is only one piece of the puzzle. Many businesses are now looking at Merchant of Record models (www.transactbridge.com) to simplify tax, compliance, payment processing, and global market entry while still offering localized payment experiences such as BNPL. The combination can significantly reduce operational complexity for growing brands.

Michael M. Spannend.

Stripe Support comes clean about blocking customer accounts!

"Hola @PayPal. Gracias."

Just another layer of problems. That is what the bank clerk told me by the time I enrolled. Now I believe him and fully regret that I used PayPal services.

PayPal My business account has been active for 3+ years with a positive history. It was suddenly restricted without any warning or clear explanation. This is impacting my business operations. Requesting a manual review and clarification on the reason for the restriction. Please help.
