Here we go, it's 2026, I have a nearly 11 month old and I'm logging back into my work brain. Over the course of maternity leave I've been Trust and Safety/Social Media stalking from my sofa, bed, floor, soft play or wherever I found myself nap trapped. However, the big long term project that was napping on me has also meant that whatever was read, wasn't fully processed 🫠 Before I officially log back in, I'm going to go down a few rabbit holes and hyper focus sessions on where we are now in the T&S space, alongside any new/interesting general leadership takes. Here are some areas that have been of interest from my current outsiders view: - How is enforcement such as the ban for under 16s in Australia impacting across other countries & has there been any change in the UGC being put out there (or is it too early to tell?) - In general, how is the enforcement from platforms around age and identity working (if at all)? - How are platforms adapting to the political climate and vice versa, particularly in the UK but also globally. Feels like local versus national versus global enforcements differ quite a bit. - The impact of real-time video, voice cloning, and deepfakes. This seems to have been one of the quickest “that escalated quickly” areas! - AI, it seems you can't move without AI! How is it being approached and managed in UGC content and policies? - How has working in T&S changed? What is more complex or 🤞🏼 easier? What role is AI playing in your day to day? Please help direct me further by leaving some reading recommendations, favorite case studies, or your own takes on “the biggest issue in Trust & Safety/leadership right now”. Also, any words on returning to work from maternity leave much appreciated 🙏🏼 #trustandsafety #maternityleave #leadership #socialmedia #AI
Welcome back Rachel, be kind to yourself as you transition back into work mode
Ah, I've missed you Rachel! Definitely +1 on Vic's comment!! I think AI has definitely changed the game a LOT in the past year, from the risks we are seeing (increased severity and scale) and also the way we are using AI for good, as a business and in our day to day. Lots to learn but a fast changing landscape! Look forward to catching up properly when you're back in. Yay!
