Wednesday is World Youth Skills Day. As our world is being reshaped by digital technologies, climate change and growing economic uncertainty and inequality, navigating these rapid changes requires a new set of skills — from digital literacy and artificial intelligence to communication and critical thinking, says UN Secretary-General António Guterres. “Unlocking the full potential of younger generations requires massive investment in inclusive quality education and training. Closing the skills gap can help create decent jobs and sustainable livelihoods at scale.” On Youth Skills Day and every day, let's commit to equipping young people with the skills they need to build a better future for all. It is great to celebrate World Youth Skills Day, but moving forward, celebration isn't enough. We have to actually commit real money and resources into inclusive training programs so everyday young people have a fair shot at building a better future.

As the nature of work continues to evolve, preparing young people for the future requires more than technical proficiency. Alongside digital and AI literacy, capabilities such as critical thinking, sound judgment, communication, adaptability, and lifelong learning will become increasingly important. Technical and vocational education has a unique opportunity to bridge education and employment by helping learners apply knowledge in meaningful ways. Success in the future workplace will depend not only on what people know, but on how effectively they can learn, adapt, and contribute in a rapidly changing world.

Digital literacy. AI fluency. Critical thinking. Communication. The skills gap is not a education problem; it is a speed problem. The world is changing faster than institutions can update their curricula. Investing in youth skills is not charity. It is the highest return investment any economy can make; the compounding begins immediately and never stops. Unlock young people. Unlock the future. 🌍🌏

At our establishment, we have been committed over the year to develop young people in STEM. We have worked closely with institutions and students from KNUST in Ghana to engage children in rural and underserved communities with creative and practical STEM experiences. We are open to collaborate with any institution to develop our communities.

An important reminder. The future will not be determined only by the technologies we create, but by the character and capability of the people who use them. Skills open opportunities. Values determine how those opportunities shape the world. Investing in young people is ultimately an investment in the future of civilization.

United Nations Building future ready skills is central to inclusive development. Strengthening digital literacy, critical thinking and lifelong learning will help young people adapt to changing economic and technological realities.

Indeed. Those form part of essential skills of 21st century ❤️💌....i hope support will be there to assist us young people to develop the worlds. We are tge future of the upcoming generation

United Nations Skills are increasingly becoming a form of resilience. Beyond employability, the ability to learn, adapt and think critically may prove to be one of the most valuable capacities in an uncertain world.

With an opinion that conventional skills &roles like #handlooms & #handicrafts will provide aspiring professionals with needed experience.
