KERING POACHES LVMH'S FRAGRANCE CHIEF TO RUN BOTTEGA VENETA Kering named Romain Spitzer CEO of Bottega Veneta, effective September 1. Spitzer spent 20 years in LVMH, where he ran the fragrance group overseeing Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Acqua di Parma, and GIVENCHY fragrances, a role he was elevated to just last October. Spitzer brings 30+ years of luxury brand experience. The hire ends the 6 month CEO search for the Kering-owned leather goods house after former chief exec Leo Rongone was named CEO of Moncler. Bottega Veneta remains Kering’s most resilient brand growing 3% last year as the group navigates a slowdown in the luxury market.

The French luxury goods group Kering has found a new chief executive officer for its fashion house Bottega Veneta. On Wednesday, the group announced the appointment of Romain Spitzer as CEO of the Italian brand. He succeeds Bartolomeo Rongone, who left Bottega Veneta at the end of March and moved to the CEO role at Moncler. Spitzer will take up his new position on September 1 and will report directly to Luca de Meo, the CEO of Kering. He will also join the group's Executive Committee.

BLUEMERCURY NAMES ALEXANDRE CHOUEIRI AS CEO Macy's has appointed Alexandre Choueiri as CEO of Bluemercury. He joins from Kering Beaute Americas, where he served as CEO and built out Creed's fragrance business while launching Bottega Veneta and Balenciaga fragrances in the U.S. Choueiri replaces Maly Bernstein, who stepped down last September after four consecutive years of positive comps. Before Kering, Choueiri spent 20+ years at L'Oréal, including as Global President of Ralph Lauren Fragrances, plus a stint as a strategy consultant at Bain & Company. Macy’s acquired Bluemercury in 2015 for $210M has been the best-performing asset in Macy's portfolio for years while the flagship banner struggled.
