One thing great leaders understand is that people remember how you made them feel. When someone feels valued, they don’t just work harder. They care more. They trust more. They become more invested in what they’re building. Recognition costs very little, but the absence of it can cost you great people.

Recognition programs with measurable outcomes succeed where others fail. At SHRM26, Kelly Satterfield, Center of Excellence Employee Experience Executive, shared a simple idea: by tying recognition into the metrics you're already tracking, their impact becomes obvious. And leadership buy-in becomes much easier to obtain. So ask yourself, how is recognition moving eNPS? KPIs? Manager effectiveness? If you're not sure, Awardco can help you find out. In every organization, there are individuals who consistently operate above the standard—often without immediate recognition. They take ownership. They solve complex problems. They deliver beyond what is asked. And yet, their efforts are not always acknowledged in the moment. That’s the reality of high performance. At an executive level, it’s important to understand this: Recognition is inconsistent. Standards should not be. Top performers don’t anchor their output to external validation. They anchor it to internal discipline, professional pride, and a long-term view of their impact. Because over time, three things become evident: Consistency builds credibility Credibility builds trust Trust unlocks opportunity Not every contribution will be celebrated. Not every effort will be visible. But sustained excellence creates a reputation that cannot be overlooked indefinitely. Stay focused on the standard you set—not the recognition you receive. In the long run, performance speaks louder than acknowledgment ever will.

When a recognition program isn't working, I look at three things before I look at the technology. 1. Manager behavior. Are managers recognizing in the real moments, or only when an automated reminder fires? Recognition from a direct manager, specific to actual work, in real time, carries a weight no platform feature can replicate. If managers aren't building it into how they lead, the platform (no matter how great) can't make up for it. 2. Leadership visibility. Is recognition being modeled at the top? Employees watch whether senior leaders participate. Not because they expect a CEO shoutout, but because it tells them whether the organization means what it says. Programs without executive participation flatline. 3. The recognition itself. Is it specific? Timely? Connected to something real? Generic recognition can do worse than underperform: it can actively damage trust. Employees who receive impersonal acknowledgment often feel even less valued than before the recognition happened. 💡 In my experience, program failure almost always lives in one of these three areas. The right program makes all three easier, more effective, and measurable. But it should never replace human participation. #RecognitionPrograms

Today we held a joint Managers' Meeting with Regions B and E, bringing leaders together to share ideas, reflect on our practice, and strengthen our approach to delivering outstanding support. The first half of the session was led by our COO, Keeley Cremona , and Head of People, Dan Blackith , who focused on the importance of staff engagement. Creating a consistent approach to engaging our teams helps build trust, strengthens communication, and ensures everyone feels valued and connected to our shared vision. When colleagues feel heard, supported, and empowered, they are more engaged in their roles, leading to stronger teamwork, greater retention, and ultimately better outcomes for the people we support. The second half of the session, led by Samantha Hunt, focused on coaching around CQC compliance. Using the coaching wheel, we explored the systems and processes we already have in place, identified areas of strength, and discussed opportunities for continuous improvement. Reflective practice and learning from our experiences are essential to maintaining high standards, ensuring compliance is embedded in our daily practice, and continually improving the quality of care we provide. What really stood out today was how closely these two topics complement each other. Engaged, supported, and empowered teams are more likely to embrace reflective practice, take ownership of quality, and drive continuous improvement. By investing in our people and strengthening our quality systems together, we create a culture where both colleagues and the people we support can thrive. A fantastic session with plenty of collaboration, learning, and shared commitment to delivering the highest quality care. Thank you to Keeley, Dan, Sam, and everyone who contributed to such a valuable day! #Leadership #SocialCare #HealthAndSocialCare #StaffEngagement #PeopleFirst #ContinuousImprovement #QualityCare #CQC #Coaching #ReflectivePractice #LearningCulture #Teamwork #CareLeadership #SupportingPeople #MakingADifference

Yesterday, our Team Member Relations (TMR) Leadership Team had the opportunity to step away from our day-to-day responsibilities and invest in something equally important, strengthening ourselves as leaders and as a team. The session was filled with meaningful discussion, collaboration, and reflection on the critical practices that help us build, lead, and support high-performing teams. From navigating complex workplace situations to fostering trust, accountability, and engagement, the conversations reinforced the importance of continuous learning and leadership development. A special thank you to our EVP & CHRO, Pia, for taking time out of her busy schedule to stop in, share her perspectives, and support our team's growth. Your leadership and commitment to developing future leaders is truly appreciated. Thank you as well to Frank, our SVP Chief Compliance Officer, for sharing valuable legal and compliance insights and best practices. Your expertise sparked thoughtful discussion and helped reinforce the important role compliance plays in creating a positive and responsible workplace culture. Time well spent with an incredible group of leaders committed to learning, growing, and leading with purpose. Jaime thank you for the Leadership of our team. Ciera and Kalene, I appreciate the continued partnership. #Leadership #TeamMemberRelations #HumanResources #LeadershipDevelopment #Compliance #TeamBuilding #CultureMatters #ContinuousLearning #HRLeadership #HGV #LifeatHGV

SUCCESSFUL CULTURE CHANGE DOES NOT START AT THE BOTTOM OF THE ORGANIZATION I've watched organizations spend months building culture committees, launching engagement task forces, and training middle managers. Then wonder why nothing changed. Here's the uncomfortable truth most leadership consultants won't say out loud. Culture change stalls when senior leaders keep doing exactly what they've always done. You cannot effectively delegate better culture. Watch this if you lead people at any level.

**Happy Monday! Wishing everyone a productive, impactful, and successful week ahead.** As we begin a new week, here's one leadership thought to reflect on: **The strongest brands aren't built on visibility alone—they're built on trust.** Every interaction with customers, employees, regulators, investors, partners, and communities shapes how an organization is perceived. That's why corporate relations is no longer just a communications function—it's a strategic business imperative. For CEOs and business leaders, investing in corporate relations isn't about managing perception. It's about strengthening reputation, building stakeholder confidence, enhancing resilience, and creating long-term enterprise value. The organizations that consistently lead their industries understand one simple truth: **Trust isn't earned during a crisis; it's built every single day through authentic engagement, transparent communication, and meaningful relationships.** **A brand is built by marketing. A reputation is built through relationships. Sustainable business success requires both.** What role does corporate relations play in your organization's growth strategy? #CorporateRelations #BrandTrust #ExecutiveLeadership #CorporateCommunications #ReputationManagement #BrandStrategy #StakeholderEngagement #BusinessGrowth #Leadership
