The Ambition Gap Is a Lie | What's Really Draining Executive Women's Energy & Drive

Hey corporate sis,

McKinsey studies say that for the first time, women are notably less interested in promotion than men this year…Isn’t that interesting? As committed and ambitious as we tend to be? (to link Women in the Workplace 2025 report | McKinsey )

80% of women say they want to advance, while 86% of men say they do.

They’re calling it an ambition gap.

But I’d like to call it something else…an unmeasured energy gap.

A penny for my thoughts? Oh, I thought you’d never ask!

Another study found that approximately 85% of women report experiencing menopause symptoms, which typically begin between the ages 45-55 and coincides with peak career years – overlapping with many middle and senior leaders. As prevalent as this is, it BOGGLES me how seldom it’s factored into current studies when it comes to women in the workplace.

Cause baby let me tell ya…this changes things. Really!

Sure, there are several things that can contribute to this ‘ambition gap’, but I want to explore one that has long been understudied and misunderstood.

So let’s talk about it.

You can’t sustain executive performance on:

  • Unstable glucose
  • Dysregulated cortisol
  • Fragmented sleep
  • Thyroid fluctuations
  • Hormonal shifts no one prepared you for

We’re quick to measure outcomes. But no one is measuring inputs.

Senior-level women are reporting the highest burnout in five years.

They say:

  • Leaders look unhappy.
  • The path feels steeper.
  • The cost feels heavier.

What if they’re not opting out of ambition?

What if they’re protecting their physiology?

We label it burnout…disengagement…lack of drive. But I reckon there’s more going on than what meets the eye.

This March we are conducting our very own Executive Biological Audit.

Why? Because your numbers play a bigger role in your career and life than you’re currently giving them credit for.

INSERT: Glucose. Insulin. Sleep…the list goes on.

My Rise53 Crew this is just the intro…but this March? We’re diving deep.

And if you don’t do anything else this month, you WILL know your numbers. Lol.  Seriously. We are NOT play’n with your numbers, and neither should you.

This work helps you be, work, lead, and live better

Powerful women track themselves.

And If you don’t know your numbers…you don’t know your authentic power.

Let’s go,

Diana
