How well do you know your Recruiter and how well do they know you?

How well do you know your Recruiter and how well do they know you?

As the sector becomes more and more buoyant there are an increasing number of 'new' recruiters popping up.

How long have they worked in recruitment? How long have they worked in recruitment within house building / architecture / surveying / land? Are they actually a specialist in their field and are they respected by clients? It takes time and hard work to learn your division and become respected and credible.

A career move is one of the most stressful yet potentially rewarding and life changing events you can make. It sounds dramatic but its true. It affects most areas of your life; financially and psychologically. Would you be confident trusting someone who is relatively new to the market to advise you on your next move? It is so important that you know your recruiter and that they know you. They need to fully understand your needs, your motivators and they need to understand your profession. The point I am making is that you should meet your Recruiter and be confident in their ability to represent you. If you are dealing with someone relatively inexperienced they wont have a strong relationship with your potential future employer.

Having done this job for fifteen years I can now make the comparison. When I first entered the recruitment market I couldn't claim to be a 'specialist' - that takes years to build up and in an ever changing industry you are always learning. I don't claim to know everything now by any stretch but I do have more confidence and a deep enough understanding of the sector to know where to find the information and contacts if I don't already have them, or be able to rely upon recommendations or testimonials based on work I have previously done. I pride myself on being able to use my established network and good relationships to do my job with maximum effect.

If you would like one of the Taylor Herrick Recruitment team to represent you or to assist you with your recruitment then please contact me directly in complete confidence - 07812 993513 or natalie@threcruit.co.uk
