Latinx Heritage Month: Meet Manuel Ahumada

This Latinx Heritage Month, we’re taking a moment to share the stories of Latinx TRI employees who are bravely breaking barriers in technology and proudly representing their roots.

Manuel Ahumada

What do you currently do at TRI?

I am a Software Engineer working in the Planning and Controls group for the autonomous driving effort at TRI.

What do you love most about what you do? 

I can honestly say that I really enjoy working with all of the talented people at TRI. Every day, I have the opportunity to learn something new and be taught by experts in the field. We’re all motivated by the singular goal of making something that could help people, and this shows up in our day-to-day interactions.

Why is LHM important to you? 

Latinx Heritage Month is an opportunity to celebrate diversity and highlight the contributions that this community has made. The Latin community is filled with amazing cultures, and by highlighting it during this month, I feel that more people will be encouraged to explore its richness.

What’s currently on your playlist or on repeat? / What are you binge-watching these days?

I’ve been watching What We Do in The Shadows as a nice way to get into the Halloween season with some lighthearted fun.

Any last words or advice you’d like to share with others?

In the Latin community, we often tend to have a case of imposter syndrome when it comes to pursuing advancements in school, careers, general areas of personal development, etc. Well, here’s just a friendly reminder: YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH!
