Top 5 Tips for finding a student placement
With the new College and University sessions just about to begin, we at e-Placement Scotland think it's never too early to start thinking about your placement opportunities.

· You should start your search for a placement well ahead of when you are looking to start the placement itself. Some employers (particularly the larger organisations) can recruit up to a year in advance. Do your research know the companies that you would like to work for and know when they are recruiting.
· Read the adverts properly before you apply make sure that your application does everything it is meant to. All the adverts on e-Placement Scotland’s site have a How to Apply section which details what is needed for your application to be considered.
· Always submit a cover letter as well as a CV even if it is not asked for – hints and tips on how to write a good cover letter can be found on our website here:
· Keep your CV relevant to the position you are applying to more information on the best way to do that can be found here:

· Don’t get disheartened if you don’t get the first placement you apply to. It can be a lengthy and competitive process and it is important to take the time to ensure your applications are good. Keep trying, keep applying.
