I spent 6 months testing AI SEO tactics for clients. One saw 2,300% AI traffic growth and now appears in 90+ AI overviews (vs zero before). Here's the exact 4-step framework we used: 1. Finding AI Opportunities: • Use Surfer AI Tracker/Ahrefs Brand Radar to see how often AI platforms mention your brand vs. your competitors • Plug in your brand and theirs, then filter for AI keywords they’re winning that you’re not • Those are the exact topics you need to target and steal 2. Content Strategy: •  Write directly and skip the fluff (AI hates filler content) •  Use conversational tone (how people actually speak vs keyword stuffing) •  Structure with clear H1/H2/H3 hierarchy •  Add TLDR summaries at the top of articles 3. Building Trust Signals: •  Claim and optimize Google Business, Yelp, LinkedIn profiles •  Get high-quality backlinks from relevant domains •  Include expert quotes and author bios with credentials •  Showcase certifications and awards prominently •  Add case studies with real data 4. Tracking Results: In GA4, go to Reports > Acquisition > Traffic Acquisition, add comparison filter for referral traffic, then use this regex: (.*gpt.*|.*chatgpt.*|.*openai.*|.*neeva.*|.*writesonic.*|.*nimble.*|.*outrider.*|.*perplexity.*|.*google.*bard.*|.*bard.*|.*edgeservices.*|.*gemini.*google.*) This shows exactly which AI platforms send you traffic.

SEO is shifting under our feet. For years, the playbook was simple: optimise for page 1 rankings, fight for clicks, measure traffic. But buyers don’t browse the same way anymore. They’re asking AI tools for direct answers, and getting them. Google’s Gemini, ChatGPT, Perplexity, even Bing. They’re not serving links, they’re serving summaries. Traditional SEO = earn visibility on results pages Answer-Engine Optimisation (AEO) = position your content so search engines (and AI tools) choose you as the answer Why? Because the “10 blue links” era is fading. How to adapt: 1. Answer questions directly – structure content in a Q&A style. 2. Think entities, not keywords – context and meaning matter more than exact matches. 3. Build authority signals – AI wants trusted sources: backlinks, reviews, named experts. 4. Mix depth with clarity – long-form guides + short, snappy explanations. We’re not abandoning SEO, it’s evolving. The winners will be those who optimise for both humans and machines. Curious: has your business started planning for AEO yet, or are you still doubling down on the old SEO model?

SEO for AI Mode: How to Win in Conversational Search Search is shifting from keywords to conversations. With AI-powered results and conversational search interfaces expanding, users now ask multi-layered questions instead of typing short queries. That changes how content ranks — and how it gets selected. The data: • Conversational queries are significantly longer, often 2–3x traditional keyword length • Informational SERPs with AI-generated summaries show measurable CTR compression • Pages with structured answers and clear entity signals are more frequently surfaced in AI responses Ranking is no longer about matching a keyword. It’s about being the most reliable answer in a dialogue. ⸻ What AI Mode Prioritizes AI-driven search systems favor: • Direct, concise answers at the top of pages • Structured formatting (lists, steps, definitions) • Clear entity associations and topical depth • Demonstrated expertise and consistency across content Thin, surface-level content is increasingly ignored. ⸻ How to Optimize for Conversational Search 1. Answer layered questions Instead of targeting one keyword, address primary + secondary intent within the same piece. 2. Add contextual depth Explain why, how, risks, benefits, and implications — not just definitions. 3. Strengthen topical clusters AI models favor domains that demonstrate breadth across a subject. 4. Improve entity clarity Use consistent terminology, structured headings, and schema to reinforce what your brand is associated with. ⸻ The Strategic Shift Traditional SEO optimized for rankings. AI Mode optimization focuses on: • Being selected • Being cited • Being trusted The brands that adapt will dominate conversational discovery.

If you’re leading SEO in 2026, here’s a practical playbook I’m seeing work: simple, repeatable, and measurable. 1. Measure total search visibility (not just rankings) Track where your brand appears across classic SERPs and AI answers. If you’re not measuring mentions, citations, and referenced pages, you’re flying blind. 2. Establish an AI visibility baseline Before optimizing, benchmark how often AI tools mention you vs competitors. You need a starting point to prove progress. 3. Study who AI already trusts Look at competitors that get cited consistently. Reverse-engineer: – Topics they own – How their answers are structured – Why AI prefers them 4. Research prompts, not just keywords People don’t “search” in AI, they ask. Map real questions users ask AI and identify: – Intent – Difficulty – Brands mentioned This replaces classic keyword research for many use cases. 5. Monitor brand sentiment inside AI answers AI doesn’t just mention brands, it frames them. Track how your brand is described: – Strengths highlighted – Weaknesses repeated – Narratives forming over time 6. Create content designed to be cited This is where most content fails. Winning formats: – Direct answers first – Clear definitions – Tables, FAQs, structured sections – Claims backed by data or examples If AI can’t extract the answer easily, it won’t reference you. 7. Track high-value prompts continuously Treat prompts like keywords with intent. Monitor when you gain or lose visibility so you can react early. 8. Audit your site for AI accessibility Check for: – Blocked AI crawlers – Weak internal linking – Missing or broken structured data – Pages AI can’t parse properly Technical SEO now directly impacts AI visibility. 9. Report SEO + AI together One dashboard. One story. Include: – AI mentions growth – Traditional rankings – Traffic impact – Competitive share – ROI If leadership only sees SEO or AI separately, you’ll underinvest in both: AI search isn’t replacing SEO. It’s raising the bar. The teams that win won’t chase tricks. They’ll build systems that make their expertise easy to understand, easy to trust, and easy to reuse. And this is where tooling matters. Platforms like Semrush make this transition practical: combining classic visibility metrics, competitive research, content structure insights, and technical audits into one workflow. Not to “game” AI, but to understand where you’re trusted, where you’re invisible, and what to fix first.

50% of Google searches now result in AI summaries. Businesses must optimise content accordingly.  Ranking first in Google is no longer the only goal. AI engines are quickly gaining in popularity for discovery.  (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini) If you want your brand to be visible across the board,  You need to put energy into optimising for AI-driven search (AEO/GEO). Google rankings can still bring traffic.  But AI-driven rankings are shaping recommendations and buyer intent. This is what businesses need to dominate search in 2025 👇 ➡️ Step 1: Be Found (SEO)  ↳ Search engines still matter, but they’ve changed. You need to: ✅ Nail the fundamentals: fast site, schema, structured data. ✅ Build clusters around full topics, not just keywords. ✅ Own authority with consistent on-page optimisation and backlinks. This is a prerequisite to entering the conversation. ➡️ Step 2: Be Chosen (AEO)  ↳ AI Overviews are now the front door of discovery. To win, you must: ✅ Optimise for voice queries, FAQs, and instant answers. ✅ Structure content so LLMs can “lift” your answers directly. ✅ Prioritise clarity, short snippets, and schema-rich responses. If you aren’t AI’s first choice, you will be invisible. ➡️ Step 3: Be Cited (GEO)  ↳ Generative engines reward those they can reference. To earn citations: ✅ Create high-trust, insight-led content. ✅ Publish data, original thinking, and frameworks AI can reference. ✅ Use prompt-led publishing to match how people query LLMs. If the machines don’t cite you, humans won’t find you. ➡️ Step 4: Be Scaled (AIO) ↳ AI has changed the economics of content. Scale comes from: ✅ Automating content production without losing voice. ✅ Repurposing into multiple formats (text, video, carousel). ✅ Using AI for editorial planning, clustering, and coverage. This is how you compete on volume without burning resources. ➡️ Step 5: Be Dominant (SXO) ↳ Winning in 2025 isn’t about ranking. It’s about owning the ecosystem: ✅ Stack SEO + AEO + GEO + AIO into one system. ✅ Dominate a niche with topic-layering across search, AI, and platforms. ✅ Push traffic off platforms into owned channels (newsletter, community). Search in 2025 is no longer a single-channel game. SEO is the foundation. But... → AEO earns you visibility in AI overviews.  → GEO secures citations inside generative engines.  → AIO and SXO let you scale and own the ecosystem. The businesses that start adapting now will catch this rising tide.   The ones that don't risk losing traffic and customers. That's exactly why I'm building Searchable.  It's an Autonomous SEO & AEO Growth Engineer. Dear SEOs, As AI-generated Overviews become a significant part of Google’s SERPs, appearing on 21% of all keywords and dominating informational queries, here’s what I recommend to SEO professionals and business owners aiming to boost their search visibility in this evolving landscape. What you should prioritize for SEO success alongside AI Overviews: 1. Create clear, trustworthy content that answers specific questions — focus on long-tail, non-branded keywords. 2. Use structured data and schema markup to help Google understand content context. 3. Build topical authority with in-depth and accurate information. 4. Focus on evergreen content rather than news or local searches. 5. Track your brand’s AI Overview presence to adjust strategies over time. SEO is shifting from keywords to meaning and entity-based optimization. Prioritize being the best source your audience trusts and that’s how you win in AI-driven search. Thank you!

AI SEO Tip: Using Screaming Frog + the Gemini API, you can identify internal linking opportunities USING EMBEDDING DATA: Recently, Screaming Frog has added an arsenal of AI capabilities to their tool that are relatively untapped by SEOs. In the past year, they've added both the abilities to connect directly it AI APIs (OpenAI, Gemini) and the abilities to use embeddings directly in the platform. This leads to some really powerful ways that you can analyze sites. Using embeddings, your able to transform your content into numeric values the way AI does. This is especially powerful because Screaming Frog lets you do this at scale across your entire site. In this example, I'm going to show you how you can do it to find internal linking opportunities. Here's the process: 1. Open up Screaming Frog 2. Go to Configuration > Spider > Extraction. Ensure "Store HTML" and "Store Rendered HTML" are turned on. 3. Go to Configuration > Content > Embeddings. Check "Enable Embedding functionality" and "Enable Semantic Similarity". 4. In the "Semantic Similarity Threshold", change this to 0.8. This will make it find related content but not duplicate content. 5. Go to Configuration > API Access > AI. Follow the steps to connect your AI API of choice. 6. In "Prompt Configuration", select "Add". Find the "Extract Semantic Embeddings from Page" option and select it. 7. Now start your crawl and wait for it to complete. Once complete go to Crawl Analysis > Start to having Screaming Frog analyze the crawl data. 8. Select the page you want to analyze. In the bottom tabs select "Duplicate Details" and then in the dropdown choose "Semantic Similarity" You'll then see a list of pages with their "Semantic Similarity Score". This is a measure of how close the overall content is to the page you're looking at. The Gemini API has determined that the overall page content is similar to the one you have selected. These represent good internal linking opportunities based on actual embedding data for the site. So if you're looking for a data-based way to identify internal linking opportunities, this is a really good way to do it.

How I rank businesses inside LLMs: AI platforms handle millions of daily queries, Google now shows AI summaries on 1 in 5 searches, Google is making AI Mode the default. This isn't just another SEO hype. But successful AI SEO follows 7 key steps that most people completely miss. Here’s my AI SEO playbook: Step 1: Map your customer questions Write down every question from your sales calls. Those same questions are being asked in ChatGPT right now. But don't stop there. Map the follow-up questions too. LLMs love comprehensive answers. Step 2: Create answer-focused pages Build pages that directly answer those questions. Skip the fluff and get straight to solutions. Step 3: Get authentic forum mentions Make a real account on forums like Reddit. Use your real name and company. Give genuinely helpful answers in relevant threads. Answer long-tail questions others ignore. These feed directly into LLM responses. But don't spam. Communities spot fake accounts instantly. Step 4: Publish YouTube videos Target specific problems your customers face. LLMs love video citations for complex topics. Focus on topics where written content falls short. Step 5: Build strategic affiliate partnerships Partner with creators who naturally mention your solutions. Authentic recommendations carry more weight than ads. Step 6: Maximise quality citations everywhere Get mentioned in blog posts, forums, podcasts. More citations equal more LLM visibility. Quality beats quantity. One mention in a trusted source outperforms ten low-quality ones. Step 7: Track your brand mentions religiously Use a tool like Mentions to monitor when and how your brand (and each competitor) appears. The AI revolution isn't killing SEO. It's creating new opportunities for companies willing to adapt. The biggest opportunity? Even early-stage companies can win immediately. You don't need domain authority like Google. You just need to get cited and you’ll start showing up.
