Spending quality time with my Mum is one of the most special parts of my year. I don't see her regularly as I'm not in the UK, but she's one of my best friends and exploring new places with her is one of my favourite things to do. Last year, she came to Australia for a 1 month road trip where I drove us down the East Coast, showing her all of my favourite spots. Year before that, I took her around Sri Lanka. I don't buy fancy clothes, don't have a fancy car and am very happy eating chicken and rice most days. But, I will ALWAYS spend money on making memories with my Mum.

Working for myself has given me the freedom and flexibility to spend time where the opportunities are. Rather than being tied to one location, I can explore new regions, understand local hiring landscapes, and connect with businesses and talent on the ground. Spending time understanding how businesses operate, what talent looks like locally, and what drives hiring decisions is invaluable. It’s not something you can fully appreciate from behind a screen. The recruitment landscape is constantly evolving, and for me, that’s what makes it so exciting. The ability to combine travel, relationship-building, and market insight while helping businesses find exceptional talent is something I genuinely value. I’m curious, if you’ve worked across different markets, which geographical location has taught you the most, and why?

Jaap Zuiderveld liked thisJaap Zuiderveld liked thisBack in 2019, while working at Cumulus Networks (Acquired by NVIDIA), I was first introduced to Mellanox Technologies through our collaboration on open networking switches. What stood out immediately was the culture: deeply technical, deeply opinionated, and never satisfied with “that’s just how networking works.” We worked closely together, pushed each other hard, and spent a lot of time challenging assumptions around what Ethernet could become. So seeing NVIDIA become #1 in datacenter Ethernet switching, just six years after the Mellanox acquisition, is pretty amazing. Not surprising, exactly, but still amazing. The AI factory is changing the shape of the datacenter, and Ethernet is becoming one of the core foundations for scaling it. The work that started with open networking, merchant silicon, Linux on switches, and standards-based ecosystems has grown into something much bigger. A lot can happen when the architecture is right, the timing is right, and the teams keep pushing.
