The framework aims to address the unique challenges of developing treatments for rare diseases by creating a dedicated, flexible pathway to assess promising therapies where traditional routes may be difficult or impossible to use. The MHRA is seeking feedback on its plans and wants to hear from voices across the rare disease community – from manufacturers, developers and clinicians to patients, carers and families. Patrick J Moloney hat dies repostetWe are proud to announce that our Trust will become the first in England to begin screening newborn babies for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) 🎉 SMA is a rare but serious genetic condition, helping identify affected babies before symptoms appear. Starting this October, SMA screening will be introduced through our West Midlands Screening Laboratory, with all babies born across England set to be included from October next year. Early diagnosis is life-changing. By identifying SMA at the earliest possible stage, babies can receive treatment sooner, significantly improving health outcomes and quality of life. The national evaluation programme, announced by the government earlier this year and due to begin in October 2026, will now include all babies born in England. It will be led by Professor Laurent Servais, who carried out the initial pilot study. Across 24 countries, more than 100 clubs and over 6,500 members are building communities that reflect the very values at the heart of the European project: inclusion, participation, volunteering, active citizenship and solidarity. Over the next six months, we want not only to contribute to Ireland’s Presidency, but also to amplify our message that Gaelic Games are a powerful vehicle for connecting people, strengthening communities and promoting Irish culture internationally. We are committed to playing our part by creating opportunities for people to engage through Gaelic Games, culture, education and exchange. Patrick J Moloney gefällt dasPatrick J Moloney gefällt das25 years later… Yesterday our 2001 Tipperary All-Ireland hurling team came back together to celebrate our Jubilee in Croke Park. We shared a meal on Saturday night, plenty of stories (some becoming even better with age!), and had the privilege of walking back onto the Croke Park pitch before Sunday’s All-Ireland Final. It reminded me of something I often see in coaching. The medals matter. The success matters. But what lasts longest are the relationships. Good teams aren’t remembered just because they won. They’re remembered because they created an environment where people felt connected, trusted one another, and enjoyed being part of something bigger than themselves. Twenty-five years on, that’s what stood out to me most. It’s a good reminder that whether we’re coaching a sports team, leading a business or working in a school, the culture we create today can outlast any result on the scoreboard. Grateful for the weekend, the memories, and the people who shared them. What people remember most about a team is often not what it achieved—but how it made them feel. Tiobraid Árann Abù

The passion, the atmosphere, the speed and the skill on display were simply incredible. We even had one very special guest from New York Glenn Weinstein CEO of Belfast based Cloudsmith experiencing his very first hurling match, and he recevied his own sliotar as a little piece of Ireland to take back with him. 🇮🇪🏑 It was also brilliant to have my own hurling hero, Richie Hogan, with us. Watching fans stop him throughout the day for photos and chats was a lovely reminder of the impact sporting legends have long after they leave the pitch. Watching the speed of the game got us talking... and we all agreed there may only be one thing moving faster than a sliotar right now... AI. 🚀 Just like the very best teams, the businesses seeing the greatest success aren't standing still. They're embracing AI, learning quickly and adapting faster than ever before. These are manufacturing and/or internationally traded services businesses with the potential to create 10 jobs and international sales within the first three years of trading.
The Enterprise Ireland Cork Competitive Feasibility Fund is designed to assist individuals or start-ups investigate the viability of a new growth-orientated business proposition to be located in Cork City or County. The fund is part of Enterprise Ireland's on-going roll-out of regionally-based Competitive Feasibility Fund calls to accelerate entrepreneurship development throughout the country.
Under the fund, applicants may apply for a feasibility grant for support towards eligible costs associated with undertaking a start-up feasibility project aimed at establishing the technical and commercial viability of a new business idea.
The aim of this funding call is to:
Accelerate entrepreneurship in Cork;
Support entrepreneurs with business ideas that have the potential to create jobs and significant growth in Cork;
Stimulate the pipeline of High Potential Start-Ups (HPSUs) in Cork. -
