Amir Bidva liked thisOn Saturday, I completed my 7th triathlon. I’ve been doing triathlons since 2016. I took a break during COVID, then got back into them in 2023 around my 50th birthday. That was also when I asked my friend Peter to join me for one. He said yes, and got hooked. This year was the Lake Whatcom Triathlon. It was a hard day, and I’m glad I did it. One thing endurance training keeps teaching me is how much of it is mental. Visualization, staying calm, and not negotiating with yourself when things get uncomfortable all matter. Those practices helped me as much as the physical training did. I’m grateful I got to do this one alongside Peter, and grateful as well to the volunteers, organizers, and fellow racers who make these events so worthwhile. These races keep reminding me that progress rarely feels dramatic in the moment. It comes from showing up, staying consistent, and continuing forward even when the path feels long. #Triathlon #Endurance #Mindset #Consistency #Resilience
