    Aishwarya Rai, once hit headlines for losing 10 kgs in just three days. She lost substantial weight in such a short time for the action thriller film Dhoom 2 in 2006. The movie became a blockbuster and Rai’s toned look as Sunheri, a mesmerising petty thief also received much praise. In a chat with Bollywood Trade, Rai’s then fitness trainer Dipika Mehta revealed the fitness regimen which helped the superstar lose such a considerable amount of weight in such a short period of time.

    According to reports, producer Aditya Chopra gave her a deadline of ten days to shed weight, so she could compliment leading man Hrithik Roshan’s sculpted physique. Rai had gained some weight for Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Guru and Chopra wanted her to shed the fat as fast as possible.

    Dipika designed a fitness program for Aishwarya that combined daily dance workouts with regular yoga and meditation sessions. Rather than opting for a strict or crash diet, she chose a balanced nutritional approach to ensure the actress remained healthy while achieving her fitness goals.


    Explaining her strategy, Dipika said she deliberately avoided extreme calorie restriction because she did not want Aishwarya's facial glow and natural beauty to be affected. Instead, she paired dance-based exercise with a nutrient-rich, low-calorie eating plan, while also incorporating principles from yoga, Ayurveda, and naturopathy to help deliver the desired transformation.

    According to Dipika, one of the most rewarding aspects of the journey was Aishwarya's wholehearted commitment to the dance and nutrition regimen, which played a key role in the program's success.

    She also praised Aishwarya’s dedication. “A trainer can succeed only if the student responds positively to the training. It is a two-way process. What I liked about Ash was her dedication and utter sense of professionalism. She used to come in dot on time for the one-and-a-half-hour dance and yoga session and she put her heart in it..” she said.

    Dipika is a seasoned fitness instructor. Her illustrious clientele include celebs such as Bipashs Basu, Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra.
